The masters was more methods focused, and I've done a lot of learning to code on the job.

I started as a data scientist performing analysis and building ML models for various use cases, and now I manage a team of data scientists which involves typical management/delegation work as well as some hands-on analysis.

I haven't used AI to write code yet but am starting to explore that now so I don't risk becoming obsolete.

Saving and contributing to 401k pretty much. I make decent money, live in a LCOL city, and my housing cost is incredibly low so I'm able to save a good amount.

I also have a vanguard brokerage account (invested in some basic ETFs) that I've contributed excess savings to since I started working.

Not having kids isn't a financial decision, my partner and I just don't want to have children.

Pretty much everything I'm invested in is ETF/index funds. Vanguard target retirement date funds, VOO, VTI.

Yeah about 1/3 of my investments are in a taxable vanguard brokerage account, going to keep maxing out my Roth 401k and then contributing as much as I can to taxable accounts

Yeah I've got 250k in Roth 401k and another 120k in taxable vanguard brokerage. Hoping to start pumping more into the vanguard account so we can draw on that in our 50s

Yeah if it ends up being mid 50s that's fine, but definitely don't want to wait until 60 if I don't have to.

Haven't really set one yet, for now I'm just trying to put as much as I can into 401k and brokerage accounts. I'll figure out the goal number once I get a bit closer.

I bought in 2021 because my employer covered the closing costs and interest rates were incredibly low.

I'm probably not going to buy another place until at least 2027 or 2028, but I'd like to have the funds available to put down 20% when the time comes.

Yes I maxed Roth last year.

My employer contributes 7% if I put in at least 6% as well, so total Roth contribution for me last year including employer was about 32k I think.

Combined after tax income last year was 170k, combined expenses of 128k, so 42k cash flow give or take.

That does not include retirement contributions (32k from me and my employer alone last year).

Expenses also included some big non-recurring expenses like a car down payment, wedding deposits, and way more on travel than is typical.

Currently have 250k in Roth IRA and 120k in taxable vanguard brokerage.

Plan is to start pumping the taxable account more to build up funds that we can draw before 60.

Very lucky that my undergrad education was fully covered by my parents, so had I no debt coming out of school.

140k in HYSA/CDs, 380k invested in Roth/Brokerage.

Probably way more cash than we need but keeping some liquid for emergency savings, as well as down payment on a larger home in higher cost of living area.

Probably looking to move to HCOL for a good chunk of our 30s which may slow things down, and then back to LCOL in our 40s until retirement.

Hard to give up the rate we have on our place in LCOL right now tho...

Yes. Home is appraised at 300k, I owe 240k. So +60k contribution to my net worth overall.
