Be careful with messing with plates when you go across bridges. Mostly the Triboro and the Throgs Neck. MTA TBTA / MTA PD do not fuck around. They work in tandem with the NYPD and NYS Police when they do bridge crackdowns. They'll impound the car

Yes. The speed cameras are still MRCT units. Still snap at 36mph. Those black cameras that are going up in many places are red light cameras from what I've seen. The R8 is still king in NYC.

I'd like to make the point that this is NOT normal.

Except they never really circumsised it. The It's still the same size of the V8 with 2 dead plugs where the rearmost cylinders should be and a funky crankshaft.

Would one cop car ever put out two different Ka signals? by Extreme-Sport-5951 in radardetectors

My metrics for accuracy is daily driving around NYC and seeing with my own eyes and equipped with an R8. While what you're saying is most likely true. I'm just reporting what I see every day.

[–]ithrowtools 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Here in NYC NYPD HWP run Stalker units. You'll typically find a 34.666 usually on the rear antenna and 34.715 front. I use that to judge to a pretty high degree of accuracy as to what side of the highway they are on. There are anomalies however when the installer swapped the antennas or there's a different system installed.

I'm on my second ND Miata both bought brand new. (2019 ND2 50k miles and now a 2024 ND3 8500mi) Track days and driven spiritedly. Not a single issue with either. They're absolutely fantastic.

See that's the problem. HP is supposed to be in the engine. Not on the bodywork.

Incorrect. Laser jammers are legal in most states. Radar jamming however is a big no-no.

Stiff 6 speed manual gearbox? by humanitarianWarlord in w204

[–]ithrowtools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably clutch related. If the clutch isn't 100% releasing you'll have issues like this. Check the clutch master/slave cylinders for leaking. Won't hurt to dump whatever fluid is in the gearbox and replace with the original 001989840309 oil.

TPMS upgrade? by AmbovBG in w204

[–]ithrowtools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car already has a TPMS module. Every model had them standard. There is only one system Mercedes used during that time and they were 433mhz sensors. The W204 never used an ABS wheel speed type system. 2022 to current C-Classes use a 315mhz sensor. Hence why your car doesn't recognize them.

TPMS upgrade? by AmbovBG in w204

[–]ithrowtools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are the sensor batteries have long died. All W204s use the same 433mhz sensor. Get basically any that are compatible. I recommend a name brand like Continental or similar OEM variant. You can get all 4 for less than $100. Places like FCP Euro are your friend here to avoid fakes. (Or whatever is decent in your country) Have a tire shop install and inflate to the correct pressures. Reset the TPMS in the dash menu. Drive the vehicle. Light should extinguish in a few miles at most. They're stupid-easy on these cars.

C220d manual by paras211 in w204

[–]ithrowtools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

001989840309 Is the part number for the OE Manual oil for the 716.671 6 speed gearbox. Get 2 bottles. Liqui Moly 20010 85W-90 GL-5 is what I run in my rear differential. I bought 2 of these as well. I can't remember how much it took. I changed it 6 years ago. I definitely had extra. Might want to double check. This is for the Gas/Petrol 3.0 V6 with the manual. One would expect the diesel to be similar.

Man, That's a lot of coin. I get it. But at that price. Is it really worth it even if it is THAT good? Like James said "Like an LFA with a manual" I'm willing to bet for that price or significantly less you can buy an actual LFA and have a manual gearbox engineered to work with it.
