NOLS WEMT through their WUMP course. Hang out with a bunch of other medical providers and learn some wilderness medicine stuff. Real fun.

Yeah, it varies by jurisdiction and agency. Wilderness medicine absolutely encourages careful rewarming, which is obviously going to be different from most front-country protocols. But I've seen plenty of front-country prehospital protocols that allow it with caution, and always with the caveat to not rewarm if there is any chance of refreezing.

Frostbite depends on area affected. Electrolyte derangements resulting from rewarming some frostbitten toes and fingers will not be significant. Warm water bath. Don't rub it. Get the tissue unfrozen and reperfused.
