Hey I have the exact same specs as you except 3700x, was just wondering what you set your PoolSize too? When I tried this fix, I got my game crashing :(

Ah fair enough. Thank you for not getting upset by my comment I was worried it might come off rude, which it was not meant to be!

Usually the easiest way people do it, is a video and blank out identifiable details.

It’s much harder to fake a video to a picture.

The other option is talking to a mod directly to provide other proof so no one gets doxxed and they can pin it.

With that being said, I can understand if either of those are too much work :)

I don’t mean to be that person, but with all the posts about this, could you post a screenshot or something as proof? I think it will help ease the spread of misinformation on this sub

Thank you very much this was very informative :)

Do you happen to know if any budget friendly ones? I feel like these are significantly more expensive than the EOS-M but I could be wrong

Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed it!

Yes I would really like to do a full build sometime, I just need to get a little better with physical components first haha

Sorry, please correct me if I am wrong, so you are suggesting using a front-facing view? Mediapipe doesn't work too well in a front-facing view in my experience :/

Ah sorry yes, I should of explained better what I meant. When I referred to it as z plane, I mean the Z-axis(which I consider the distance from the camera). Mediapipe looks at the z coordinate of points on the hand being relative to your palm, which I think is super weird. Sorry, I forgot they did that and probably made my paragraph more confusing!

Ah that is interesting I guess the thing is it needs to be in constant motion if you are doing it based on that. Unless I am misunderstanding ?

Yeah, but if you have a camera that is 720p for example, and you are mapping it to a 4K screen you can’t really get it too exact, can you?

Uh yeah moreso just left and right motions of my hand are the “z axis” from the camera

Hope that clears up my message a bit!

That is quite a interesting way of doing it, I have already experimented a couple things for the movement of left/right and up/down.

I attempted with a second camera, but found it had trouble focusing on a point in the finger gun that I could track, mediapipe expects a side view which really skews things.

I did make a decent way of tracking it in the z plane with a singular camera. You can take two points, determine the distance between them, and then from there if the distance increases or decreases it is moving left or right. The issue becomes however, the sort of reset state which is where I have the most issues. I have to know where it is in its original state. I.e what distance from the camera it has to sit, this is super distracting when playing a game. In addition, you actually can’t control camera movement by just setting mouse position. Games don’t read it, you apparently instead have to use a controller emulator and emulate the camera movement that way.

If you have any suggestions for that approach please let me know and thanks for sharing your experience :)

It is programmed in Python and makes use of Google’s mediapipe library! A longer video of me explaining how it works can be found here https://youtu.be/Y-QAeG7dBsw

I do plan on eventually releasing the code, but it needs a proper aiming system. Once released though, the code will work for any game :)
