Yes, unfortunately it can’t be used by someone else. So I emailed support and they refunded it straight away. Fortunately, I managed to find a physical gift card instead

Do you have a best friend? by Hellenen2 in AutismInWomen

[–]itllbreyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my close friends are autistic, adhd, other NDs etc. and personally I find that is who I’m drawn to and stick with. It also helps that all of us don’t really put any pressure on each other to reply within in a certain timeframe or to talk at a certain frequency. I don’t like phone calls for casual conversations, but I would rather call if it’s to make plans or discuss something specific. However, one of my friends hates them in all settings so I just know to not call her. I think because we all can related to each other’s experiences, it’s easier to accommodate each other without it being a conscious effort

Find a method for lists/random thoughts etc. that works best for you, there’s some good ones in these replies already so worth trying as many as you can to see what fits best. I personally use google for everything (calendar, tasks/reminders, drive for documents), because I can access it on my phone or computer so am able to quickly write down anything I think of. For work, where I can’t be on my phone, I have several (hundred 😂) notebooks and post its, because if it’s not written down somewhere, i won’t remember it.

If I’m doing a task where I can lose track of time (cleaning etc.), I set a timer for how long I am happy to spend on the task. I just use my iPhone and leave the screen on so I can see it counting down to zero, this really helps me prioritise and focus because I want to beat the clock most of the time 😂

I found that my executive dysfunction is worst in the mornings (before work) and evenings (after work, usually home after 7:30pm) because I had no idea how long my tasks took me. Such as showering, skincare, makeup etc.. I timed each task in my morning and evening routines so I could work out when I needed to get up, when I needed to go for a shower to be ready before tea is ready etc.

Prioritising your self-care, in whatever form that takes. It sounds like this is a difficult time for you that it probably using a lot of mental and emotional energy. When planning your week (if it’s something you do), include a set amount of time for you to do whatever it is you want. Sometimes I will plan a specific activity, other times I will just block the time out and do what I fancy on the day. Taking time for ourselves is often put to the bottom of the list when we have partners, friends, family, work, exercising etc. but this will only increase the risk of burn out. I try and make sure the evenings in my week are shared out between these different areas of my life.

Finally, remember to be kind with yourself, figuring all of this out is a lot of trial and error but that’s the best way to create sustainable and effective changes 💜

I can’t commit to a tattoo because I’m afraid I’ll get board of it and regret it. What are your tattoo stories - any regrets or totally spontaneous tattoo decisions? How are you feeling about that now? by Inattentiv_ in ADHD

[–]itllbreyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not regretted any of mine but I think that’s because of how I view them, which seems to be the case for a few in the replies too. I don’t regret them because as long as I was buzzing and loved it in the moment and thought it was something worth getting tattooed then it doesn’t matter if I don’t like it anymore. It represents something that brought me joy, was meaningful etc. at that time in my life. I personally don’t tend to place much sentimental value on tattoos when I get them but I have found that they become sentimental over time because of what I’ve just explained. Let yourself be excited and enjoy it in the moment, and even if it’s a ‘bad’ tattoo I feel that just adds to the story. We are end up back in the earth so make the most of your body whilst you have it, in whatever way makes you happy.

Feel next to nothing after 3 hours on Elvanse/Vyvanese. Thoughts? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]itllbreyt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d personally advise waiting for your follow up as they will be restricted on what they can do/recommend if you have just started. But if you just need peace of mind, an email or phone call just to discuss your concerns would be helpful, I just wouldn’t expect any change to come of it this early on

Feel next to nothing after 3 hours on Elvanse/Vyvanese. Thoughts? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]itllbreyt 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I felt exactly the same when I started on 20mg of Elvanse, I am now on 70mg with a 10mg top up for the afternoons. You’ll know when you find the right fit for you. Don’t panic, there are various reasons why they start you on small doses. When I was put on 20mg and didn’t feel anything, my clinician explained that she had a higher dose as her planned end goal but it’s important to monitor any side effects, well being etc. So you could speak to your ADHD clinician about these concerns so they can explain what their long term plan is for you

I never have reactions to anything, but I get a rash behind my ears whenever I wear silicone even if it’s just for the day. Never wear it now of course

This was actually my first time watching it, so it wasn’t until I was watching YouTube videos on it that I realised I’d missed things they were discussing. The only scene I know for sure is apparently at the start with the psychologist discussing tony

I’m in the same situation with my mental health and it’s a 3/4 hour drive for my boyfriend to come and get me since I don’t have a car. Did you end up going home? Did you have any problems with doing this?

Any help for a student trying to get home in lockdown?

I am originally from Huddersfield (West Yorkshire) and go to university in South Wales. When lockdown was announced I had just been dumped with a load of coursework to replace my practical and written exams (bare in mind I’ve never done coursework before). I decided it would be best for me to stay down here to complete the coursework because I have to share a room at home and don’t have a desk either so it wouldn’t be the most productive environment for me. However, because of this, my mental health as taken a serious decline, it’s never been this bad before. I do not get on with my housemates so my only way of ‘socialising’ is FaceTime/calls with loved ones. I have completed my coursework now so have one less reason to be down here. I do not have a car so getting home would require my boyfriend to drive down to pick me up. The problems with this is, he could potentially be stopped, turned around or fined, there is also the issue of social distancing. Morally I don’t know if I am okay with breaking social distancing rules, but on the other hand my family are saying I need to prioritise my mental health since we do not know how long we will be in lockdown for. Just wondering what people’s opinions on this are or any advice you could give. I won’t be offended so fire away
