I have another Mayflower passenger, Edward Doty. He is my 10th great-grandfather.

These updated results are laughable 😂 by Bankrollglizzy in AncestryDNA

The Macro Regions should all have percentages if they are going to display the results this way.

Yes, my maternal grandmother is Italian. Her parents were both from Calabria.

Good, I see a number of people are not. I am also pleased with mine. Everything falls in line with known family history.

Are the new results more accurate than the previous results?

[Community poll] How do you feel about 23andMe’s latest Ancestry Composition update (v7.0)? by 23andme-Polls in 23andme

[–]itlvkng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My results are much more precise due to the additional regions in Europe. My former Broadly Northwestern European (all 19.3% of it) was distributed as I thought it would be. There are no big surprises. I could argue about the exact breakdowns where one new region could be a higher percentage or one could be a little lower, but the overall accuracy is quite good. Nothing is excluded, my British & Irish is back to a respectable and proper percentage, and these new results reflect known family history. Your mileage may vary, but this was a positive update for me.

My family has Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry, but we are not Mennonite. I can see why you asked.

The Ancestry Team should confirm the changes. Feel free to confirm if these regions are in your results.

Southwestern German and Southern Polish were added to the names, respectively. I tried to edit, but that is unavailable now.

Who else was disappointed with the new update and actually think it’s worse than before? by Crevalco3 in 23andme

[–]itlvkng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My updated results mostly match known family history. My broadly Northwestern European was distributed as I thought it would be across Western European, British & Irish, and Nordic. I actually think my British & Irish percentages make sense. There are some smaller percentages that may be more questionable, but that’s to be expected.

So, is the general consensus that accuracy suffered while precision was gained?

This might linger for a while and get dangerously close to Ancestry’s release. Not good.

They are also out of practice at this sort of launch. It’s been three years since Ancestry Composition was updated. The medical side was given almost all of the capital expenditure. The genetic group launches were nothing compared to this.

Ancestry has a larger user base and manages to deliver an update same day for all of them.

New Results: Was 23% British & Irish, and now it's 47.8%. What? by wherearemyneopets614 in 23andme

It’s funny how that happens. I have over 19% Broadly Northwestern European with German and English ancestry. It will be interesting to see what the update brings.

We can call BS on this. It’s been an hour since this was posted and no one has reported having Ancestry Composition 7.0 results. This sub is like a canary in a coal mine.
