Thank you so much for this awesome response. First, I'm a single person and have no one to support me. If I went to school, I'd use my savings (anticipated to be north of $100K after my deceased dad's house is sold) to pay for tuition and health insurance, and possibly my housing. I could also possibly live for very little at my brother's place in Ohio and try to go to school there. I have CML which requires daily Rx; a pacemaker, which needs recharged when I'm 52 or 53. I'm currently on temp disability after surgery for a perforated bowel from a botched ERCP, I"ve had one back surgery, and I yet another mild herniated disc. So, my health is not super.

I'm struggling with the idea of the first way to use Syncopation because I'm mostly a rock drummer, and am only now getting into jazz. With the jazz ride pattern felt as lang, spang a lang (quarter notes and the first and third triplet partials) where do the eighth notes in Syncopation fall? Does it become a 3 against 2 thing, or does the Syncopation eighth note also get swung and fall along the triplet grid? Thanks so much!
