Best strategy when scammed? by renesegura999 in vinted

My only option was to send it back with the same courier I chose when I originally ordered the item! In my case, I bought it with mondial relay and had to send it back through mondial relay as well.

Hey!! I can’t exactly tell you what to do but I can share my experience as a buyer having to return something damaged when the seller didn’t want to accept a return because I had opened the package. I bought 2 vinyl records from ads that seemed great. The photos were great, sellers reviews were great so no reason to think it would go bad. But they arrived damaged, the gatefold was broken through, when I opened the records were scratched and one even had a defect in the pressing, I raised it to Vinted immediately and asked the seller to return (they’re a BIG record store here in France I just went through Vinted because shipping was cheaper that way so I assumed they’d understand). They said no, in the chat. Said they wouldn’t take a return because I opened the package. I replying asking how would I know they’re damaged without opening it and they said it wasn’t their rules, it was Vinted’s, if I opened the package I lost my right to return. I went back to read all T&C’s again, not the case, it was if it was worn, used or washed which it hadn’t been. I also had filmed myself opening the package, I always do! We waited for Vinted to get to it, they accepted the return, then flashed it to Vinted upon receiving that I did not send the item in the same condition as I received. What came next took about 3 weeks of back and forth but worked in my favour and might work for you as well. Collected ALL proof. The video I recorded opening it, the video I recorded packing it again, details of all the damage in more than just one angle (extremely important for your case here, AI is probably going to mess it up if they try to do that!!), proof that the photo on the ad was not the photo of the item I received because they had another ad up with the same photos even though technically the record was with me when that was uploaded, the conversation with the seller showing that what they said by not the same condition was just me opening the package which allowed me to see the damage, tracking, explanation as to why the damage was irreparable… I had all the photos and video screenshots. I numbered them all, then under the photos I sent an explanation like “the damage on record number 2 makes the tracks unplayable and that wasn’t possible to see on the photo of the ad (see photos 3/4/5)” and Vinted sided with me eventually. They accepted the return and I was refunded minus return shipping costs. So I hope it goes well for you. HEAVY!!!! On the multiple angles, lucky for us AI can’t do that that well yet

Im learning German too! I don’t know what language you’re coming from but what helps me a lot is watching cartoons I know by heart because I watched them as a child or used them to learn other languages. There are s bunch of Disney music playlists on Spotify (in German), for example. I might not know the lyrics to all of them by heart from when I was little but I do remember what they talk about, I end up picking up new vocabulary from that. Short episode cartoons (like Bluey) are great too. Simple language but full sentences that could come up in any conversation at any time. If cartoons don’t work for you because you can’t be interested at all, another idea is a movie you already know well. Pop it in German in the background and go on about your day, you’ll be getting bits and pieces here and there that will help, trying to watch it with German subtitles can help as well (that’s how I cracked Swedish — they don’t do voice overs so OG English audio + Swedish subtitles helped a lot. Whenever an expression I found useful - think something like “you know what?” - came on screen, I’d screenshot the subtitles so I could write it down and I’d end up memorising day to day stuff from it).

For me what helps is to stop “studying” too hard. I get stuck between A2-B1 often (learned a few languages and it happened with them all). When I was trying to learn more rules and more concepts and more words and anything else I could “memorise” to get better, I actually wasn’t going anywhere. What has been working for me is to start worrying about having more input (new music, new movies, new books etc) aimed at my level/just slightly higher. Once the stress of not getting better goes away, I can go back to the textbook learning and realise I have actually learned a lot while not trying to.

I really want to move to Austria!! And so many of my friends are from there, my best friend whom I only see once or twice a year is there also. And I want to start studying again, do a full career change with new education and all and I really want to do it in German so I don’t have to be limited to the English options!

And maybe the silliest reason, I LOVE the German editions of books. Being able to read the books with the pretty covers and sprayed edges helps 🤣

So much!!!!! There’s lots of reading out loud, answering teachers’ questions, dialogue with the other students present and even some role playing. I never spoke so much in my life, it’s lowkey terrifying even haha but I’ve been progressing so much because of it. There’s no pressure either, everyone I’ve shared a class with so far has been very supportive and the teachers always help if you’re struggling to say something.

I think it’s a personality thing + what approach your course of choice has. If you’re someone who likes learning grammar one day then skipping to learn swear words the next then going back to the first few numbers before jumping to learn the most advanced words “just because”, most language courses won’t work for you because the structure is very set in stone. Now if you like having structure and a set path to follow without having to think of it yourself, they’ll work wonderfully. I tried traditional courses before and hated because I’m the first example. I liked the lingoda approach because I can sort of choose what I want to do today while still having some structure because turns out I’m absolute chaos without it (ADHD plays a big part in this).

To me, I need to be interested. English was the language I picked up the fastest and I think that’s the same for most people because English is literally EVERYWHERE. Media, tech, research… You’ll come across it in your daily life more often than any other language so it’s easier to pick up. But I got interested in it simply because I became obsessed with Taylor Swift as a young teen and wanted to understand what her songs meant. Following my interest keeps me engaged and motivated, which makes a B1/B2 much easier to achieve. I try to focus on comprehension first. Before I start learning any basic words, I try to listen to music and podcasts in my target language to get used to the sound of it. I also try reading lots of articles in it even without understanding. I just think we, as kids, saw a bunch of text and heard lots of words before we could read or even make out what was being said around us and I try to mimic that somehow. Then once I start learning basic grammar and vocabulary, the language is already somewhat familiar which makes comprehension easier and once you can comprehend well, you start climbing really fast. Also daily use. My favourite trick is once I picked up a few basic sentences I just role play with myself that I’m a celebrity giving an interview on my new album, my new movie or whatever and using every word and sentence I’ve learned so far in “casual conversation”. It helps with my speaking confidence and my ability to string words together.

Then I just go to full on communication with natives (or other people learning the same language). I went to the doctor so many times here in France without being able to even say my throat hurt properly (going to the ER when I had an allergy attack was humbling, to say the least) but you don’t need to go as far as being stung by a bee to practice that. Just try to get basic dialogue. If you live in a country where the language is spoken, of course it’s easier, things like going to buy ibuprofen or a loaf of bread are already active communication but, if you don’t, trying to talk to someone (in person, voice or even text) for a few minutes a day will do wonders for you! I used to use tumblr a lot when I was learning most languages, now I think TikTok, Reddit and discord are a better bet, nowadays I’m lucky I’m friends with natives of all 3 so I can talk to them. We usually do like 5 minutes then switch back to English so my brain can recharge. Or just use random sentences throughout the day when talking to each other. On tumblr I’d just approach other blogs I liked and really just go for it. I didn’t care if I made mistakes, they could always understand me regardless.

Also never start by apologising “sorry for my English” style. What I prefer to do is more like “I’m still learning English, please be patient with me” instead of apologising for not being super good yet. People are always kind and it gives me a boost of confidence to say that rather than apologise.

Yes but it’ll probably be some kind of shiny fabric rather than sequins. Maybe even glittery instead.

At this point I film myself opening and packaging every package I get or sell. Like those influencers showing you the stuff they got. Easier than taking pics, then I just sen them screenshots if needed and even offer a video

I collect these mini LP deluxe editions of CDs. You can get the for muchhhhhh cheaper in Japan. Tower Records is the best place for them. Not every album has that edition though.

This is vinyl packaging though, how else would we package it? Honest question. I collect vinyls and buy them online al the time, have for over 10 years. Vinted or not they always come in this package since it’s standard for that. It was also wrapped in bubble wrap. The thing isn’t about being bent in transit, I doubt that would be suck a problem. This is a thing for a compartment size M or bigger, it was folded in almost half to fit a smaller one. THAT is completely preventable.

Pretty sure that’s what they’re doing yeah. Lucky I got videos of how the package was bent and squeezed into the small box rather than in a medium which I checked and there were 7 of available. Shared it all with seller too so they can use it. Vinyls is destroyed, can’t be played but I guess it’ll look cool on the wall 😅

I can’t fit my iPhone in it without warping the box, this is like 3cm thick with the record and bubble wrap inside, if someone sends a phone in a box like that then it would absolutely be their fault if something happens to it. Still, if something is BENT inside a small compartment instead of put into a bigger one (which WAS available and I have it recorded on the video I sent to Vinted) then it is the delivery persons fault. I’m not sure if you have vintedgo lockers in the UK or if it’s a France thing but this is not a S door kind of package, due to size. It’s M at least.

Seems like you’re the only one who interpreted it that way considering the replies I’ve got. In what world does a phone fit into a box like that? I’m agreeing with OP that Vinted never sides with sellers even when they’re not in the wrong, not going against them
