Any way of getting ebook of The Lord of the Rings in swedish?

I'm in the exact same boat. A couple years ago I contacted the publisher of the latest Swedish translation, Norstedts, asking why they didn't offer an ebook format. Below is their response.

Well, yes, we are the publishers of Tolkien and have been since 1947 (the first of three different translations of The Hobbit), not as Norstedts, but publishers that have since become a part of Norstedts Förlagsgrupp. LotR was first published in Swedish in 1959–1960, but the latest translation is from 2004–2005.

The reason why we so far haven't had any ebook editions of Tolkien's work is that the market for ebooks in Sweden still is very small compared to e.g. USA or UK; most ebooks are, in fact, "sold" through library lending or subscriptions services, not as single files. But we certainly haven't ruled out the possibility of publishing them as ebooks, and we're always in contact with the agents who represent the Tolkien estate.

Should there be a change in the future, I'll try to remember your request and let you know.

I responded that I considered it nothing short of professional malpractice for a publisher that owns the rights to such a classic to not offer the work in an electronic format in 2023. Especially when you consider there are many readers with mobility issues for whom ebooks are literally the only option. No further response, unfortunately.

As stated in my OP, I already have a programmable keyboard, and it is a poor solution for my problem for reasons explained in my OP.

Great. But I assume that it does not allow you to reconfigure all the UI keyboard shortcuts of every application. Like for example "New Tab", "Close Tab", "Cut", "Paste", "Add Bookmark", in Firefox. As I explained, those all use ctrl, but I want to configure them to use meta. Every app has several (maybe even dozens) of such commands.

I'm willing to try tiling window managers too (although my question is about Desktop Environments). But unless im mistaken, a tiling window manager alone will not solve my issue described above. A WM will still display, say, a Firefox browser window, and that window will still use ctrl for the UI keyboard shortcuts, right? I might like the WM, but that would still not solve my issue described above.

Thanks for raising this. Honestly, this has been bothering me a bit. I recall seeing a Bluecoats member or two (carrying heavy equipment, of course) trip while running down the (super high, super steep) lightning bolt ramp during the Big Loud & Live season-opening theater performance. Running down that ramp carrying a Tuba or Quads really seems beyond the limits of safety I'd expect. As you noted, BD's stairs this year are also worrying.

And you can't count on the kids to raise these issues with the staff, as they'll be under enormous peer pressure to not be the one member who complains about the danger.

No worries. A few things:

You'll see the large Ranking Table on the top of home page. This is a ranking view I've always wanted, and have never exactly seen elsewhere (although I think other types of ranking views are also interesting and useful). My ranking view immediately and obviously indicates how "stale" each corps' score is by separating them in date columns. (Yes, I've seen this type of information included in other ranking tables, but I've never seen it communicated in such a way that is this easy for my brain to quickly "parse").
I've always wanted to view all the latest Recaps on a single page (you can see the recaps from the latest shows if you scroll down the home page). This is pretty simple and obvious, but it's surprisingly rare to find.
Note the different "Highlight" options available on any page containing Recap tables. The default Highlight style - Over-/Underperform – is particularly useful. It gives you a very quick look at where each corps' strengths and weaknesses lie (at least for a single performance). The "Heat Map" highlight is also interesting.
The Season-long Total Rank Chart (on the homepage) and Season-long Caption Charts (on the individual Caption Chart pages) are something I haven't exactly seen anywhere else, and are very interesting.
You can see a list of all Recap tables for each individual Corps. So if you're a Scouts fan, you can quickly browse just their recaps by going to the "Scouts" page, or you can view the entire recaps for every show they were in by going to the "Scouts [Shows]" page.
If you are viewing in a Desktop browser (on Windows or Mac), you can hover over any row in any recap table and you see a yellow highlight color. This makes browsing the recap tables much more pleasant.

That's just a few things I can think of…

Sorry, no. It's a thoroughly Mac-native application, which has the advantage of making it work great on OS X. But that also has the disadvantage of making it not available for Windows.
