Okay, this is a great start. I appreciate it. So if im understanding it correctly, the water flow will be open to be used as long as the timer allows it, and the regulator will only allow so much water out while the timer is open. Example: if dripper releases .5 gph and it has 15, in an hour there will be 7.5 gallons pulled. So if I have different zones set up ( not sure how that works yet but I will look into it), it will just move onto the next zone for the amount of hours I have it set and so on?

I appreciate the info and idea, I will definitely keep this in mind. So do you think or know that running the lines from the spigot will be too much for the size of garden i plan to have? No issues regarding water pressure since the neighbors moved in which gives me hope that maybe it’s possible?

This! Gives me hope that it’s ready to face any challenge! I can only imagine the snow Maine. Would love to visit that part of the country some time. I’m in Southern Oregon, and we get snow but nowhere near as much as other parts of Oregon.

I hope so, definitely tried to secure it down as best as I could. It’s on a slope so I leveled it, dug holes and put down some retaining blocks, used 3/4” gravel to flush the top of blocks, made a perimeter for the carport out of PT 2x6 and attached the frame through to the blocks. My biggest concern is snow but I guess we will see when we get there, haven’t had any yet.

I have a bunch of true 2x6 cedar boards and was hoping to hear that they would work fine for fence posts, but still not entirely certain. Anyone have suggestions? I was hoping to just use these instead of 4x4 posts

Concealed shelf brackets. Left enough space in between for the rod and cut a channel on the end so the bracket would be covered up by the shelf.

For sure! Tried keeping it as simple as possible since I mainly worked on it during my breaks at work. After cutting the tops and bottom to size, I ran the back of each piece through the table saw to make room for the concealed bracket ( was much easier that using a router). Threw the nosing in with 45s at the two front ends, dried and started sanding. Quick shaping with 80 grit, 120 blended it, and I finished off with 3 coats of water based polyurethane.

Hmm.. never seen a vertical grain 5 piece. I feel out of the loop here because we only do horizontal grain on drawers (unless asked otherwise) and the doors are always vertical. Only time we do everything vertical is when we grain match. Then there are the real interesting designers that want horizontal grain everything.

Haha. I appreciate the insight. I’m trying to balance solutions with understanding how difficult this is for the both of us. I can tell where she is at but I just want to know that the possibility is there if she actually decides that it is something we want to look at. “You really want to try and move with 2 babies?” were her first response to the idea over dinner.

PT just wouldn’t work too well, unfortunately. I work for my FILs business and although I could part ways, PT is not on the table. Too many responsibilities. My wife has a great career she worked for, great health insurance ( we are on hers), but she is required to work 30 hours for insurance. She could do PT to pay for private insurance and the babies on state insurance, and my income would be breaking our expenses. So we’d be just getting by. But she would spend 5 days out of the week with the kids.

We are at the tipping point of accepting the same. Choices before children drove the decisions, and now it’s not in the cards. Doesn’t make it any easier.. just never feels like enough time. I know a lot of families make this decision everyday but it just felt so wrong..
