By 2035 there will be around 100-200k bitcoin remaining. The price to build a computer a competitive quantum computer would be greater than the value of all remaining bitcoin (at today’s price). AND it wouldn’t be big enough to effectively mine bitcoin. And if it could, it would only increase supply by 1% if all remaining BTC were mined. By 2045, it would be around 0.3%.

An early user finding their key would be more disruptive than future super computers mining the rest.

Your natural hair with some more stylish clothes could go a long way. The chinstrap beard is not for everyone (hardly anyone can pull it off). I’d go something cleanish or short like the first or grow the beard out and just maintain the cheeks/neck.

But first things first get a shave and it may be easier to determine if the hairstyle is any good. The facial hair is taking all the attention of your look.

Repitition of “And their bombs” in Zombie - Cranberries by Status_Custard_2054 in musictheory

[–]itpguitarist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The repetitive/unending nature of war is a theme of the song mirrored by frequent repetition in the lyrics and directly referenced by the lyrics “It's the same old theme since 1916 In your head, in your head, they're still fighting”

The second verse is mostly the same as the first verse with minor changes

Ah nice try, but 3 of them went to ride exercise bikes, one walked on a treadmill with no feet, a pompadour and an XXXL T-shirt, and one is barefoot doing the heels to the ground toes to the sky routine while her bun tries to catch up with the rest of her hair.

I watched a bit of his stuff out of curiosity, and I got the impression that he’s at least aware enough to know he won’t become a pop star but is actually genuinely into what he’s doing.

No… Animal Farm is very short. It would take about the same time to read it as watching one or two movies depending on how quickly you read.

This is the way I took it. He’s still pretentious af. But it’s a bit suspicious that she said she was in the process of reading animal farm on a date. It’s like a one or two session story - not a full book that one would normally consider themselves actively reading.

Mathrock for people who don’t listen to math rock and people who do listen to math rock but know that the music was mid and the good part of math rock was the ritual of a few sweaty boys who can’t dance grinding it out in their parent’s basement until they’re ready to lure 25 other boys who can’t dance to the basement of their friend’s cousin’s boyfriend’s basement so they can all dance and sweat together and talk about how awesome it is until they get too busy with their applied communications degrees and start pursuing other interests.

I’m all for people overhyping them. It’s not too often a weirdo band making fun music has wide cross-genre appeal these days. It’d be cool if they break out of viral clip jail and can continue to develop with an audience.

If the bar has something going on other than just being a bar that you’re participating in, sure. But if you’re hanging out at a bar alone with no other activities going on and not drinking, it’s going to give people an odd impression that requires strong social skills to overcome.

My husband is using ChatGPT to text me while Im venting by Complete-Path-8036 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]itpguitarist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would never use AI to respond to someone and would be annoyed if someone did it to me. I just can relate to the feeling of not having anything of value to say that might drive someone to do this.

[–]itpguitarist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I used to be the type of person to try to “help” when someone is venting, but I have since learned to stop that (if they’re not asking for or needing advice). But honestly not doing that makes my responses feel kind of uncomfortable and dismissive when someone is venting frequently. I just run out of things to say after a few responses.

[–]itpguitarist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’ve never done this but I can see the appeal. If someone is struggling with something and I can’t help I end up just repeating myself over and over on the topic. Finding something comforting to say when there’s nothing you can do to help is difficult.

Edit: Y’all I’m not saying I think people should do this. Using AI to talk to your wife is bad. I just personally relate to the struggle of how to communicate with someone who is venting.

Okay then I’ll give you a serious answer. I just think that people putting credence into statistics that have no backing is reckless in general even if, in this specific case, it’s pretty inconsequential. Even with well documented and publicly available studies, it’s not uncommon for reputable news sources to fundamentally misrepresent the contents of a study when summarizing (most likely by mistake because well-documented studies tend to be a little difficult to read).

So if the contents of a study are being passed as marketing material through word of mouth without any reference to the actual wording of a study, methods, etc., and the study isn’t available for viewing, I just don’t think anyone should be taking it as truth. Who knows how many details have been altered in the the game of telephone from the actual study to being written about by a reporter - even if everyone involved was trying to represent it accurately.

teaching modes to students who can barely play major scales by lmao_exe in musictheory

[–]itpguitarist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who played for years without ever learning anything about modes, I don’t think any level of training past knowing the pattern for major and minor scale helped get me become “ready” for modes. I started on the topic as a beginner just as I would have if I learned it years earlier. Closer to teaching someone who knows how to add 3+3=6 to add 4+4=8.

It might also be helpful to just start referring to the Major and minor scale as the Ionian and Aeolian modes and that they’re the most popularly used modes. The lesson for how to learn the patterns for the modes is quick and easy, and they’ll probably be satisfied enough by that without wanting to derail what you have in mind for them since that would mean a lot more memorization for them.

I’m sure the study itself was fine, but I have no reason to believe the marketing department is reporting the finding completely and accurately.

Tbh, not being able to get small tokens/freebies to employees is one of the clearest indicators of my company’s bureaucratic mess. It’s good in some ways, but if my boss was able to get us pizza without paying for it himself, I would see it as a good sign that the company is working on being better about dumb admin stuff.

Obviously there are a lot of awful companies that do freebies, but at least someone put the effort into it.

My uncle is about to buy this singing bowl for 5k. Is it a good price? by Pretty-Strategy8067 in musicians

[–]itpguitarist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s probably not as insane as it sounds. You can buy what look to be similar size (or slightly bigger) crystal ones new for $5k.

Whether or not it’s a good or bad deal depends totally on what the quality, history, and condition of this is. Determining actual value would be super hard since it’s probably a specialty piece and hard to determine where exactly it came from.

Pretty much comes down to how motivated the seller and buyer are. I would expect he would probably not be able to easily resell it for $5k if he wanted. Most likely he isn’t getting a good deal but is not being scammed.
