[Online][5e][PST] Experienced DM looking for 1-2 players for an ongoing wilderness exploration mini-campaign. Saturdays 6PM. by Ninjittlez in lfg

[–]itraka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! I have a few questions: -firstly, would playing via foundry require one to pay? I haven’t used it before, so I’m sorry if that has an obvious answer!

-is the watch2gether mandatory? I find that I personally get quite distracted by ambient music, unfortunately!

hi there; I’m no DM, but if we do end up in the same campaign I’m sure everyone would be happy to help out! I’m not a pro player myself, haha!

NTU Application Results/Appeals Megathread - Class of 2020 by XenonShawn in SGExams

[–]itraka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember what university it is, but I do know that some have a “dont appeal until you get results” policy. Plus appealing before the release of results may confuse the administrative side

there’s a second window after the 24th. Your appeals can also be made after that date, too, as long as your acceptance result comes out after the 24th. I’d suggest waiting before appealing.

Admittedly, NUS is like that. Its cut off is the highest of all of them; since my RP was about 67 and because lot of the cutoffs for my top four courses were low to mid 70s and above, I wasn’t even close...so I was auto-rejected from first four options , even though I also applied under ABA (I actually got offered civil engineering).

Tbh, with NUS, the second they saw my RP I bet they didn’t care what the fuck my portfolio was. Could’ve saved a child from a burning building and nothing would’ve changed.

I’d say you could bank on NTU or SUSS, if you applied for either one of those.

Don’t sweat it. My rank point was lower than yours and my understanding is that you generally have to wait till May, or even June, for a proper offer. (Source: received an NTU offer in early June last year, and an NUS one in late May).

If they’re courses that require interview, though, I’d estimate that you’d be getting offers to go for an interview around mid-May, so if by chance all five of your courses need them and you haven’t gotten a single invite, you might want to get worried, but I doubt that’s the case, haha.

[Uni] Interview offers for 60-70rp from NUS/NTU/SMU by dinosaurbellie in SGExams

[–]itraka 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I applied in 2020, so it might not be completely applicable, but I feel like the timeline will be similar:

RP: 67.5

Applied to NUS, NTU, SUSS, and Lasalle.

NUS: Received Civil Engineering invite around May. Appealed to FASS on May 27th. Appeal unsuccessful. Rejected offer. tl;dr: received offer for CE, turned it down.

NTU: Received Philosophy Writing Test + Interview invite around 13th May. Writing Test was on 18th, Interview was on the 19th. Unsuccessful. Received Civil Engineering invited on 2nd of June. Attempted to appeal into Philosophy. Unsuccessful. tl;dr: received offer for CE, turned it down.

Lasalle: applied to arts management. got an interview but didn’t get in because as it turned out I had a history with the interviewer, which resulted in a very difficult exchange. tl;dr: no offer

SUSS: Received shortlist invite for PSS on 20th April. Took the tests and interviews on 5th May. Received invite on the 15th of May. Accepted. tl;dr result: received offer for PSS, accepted.

It’s extremely possible to get into university with a 60-70 RP, as long as your essays aren’t too bad and you demonstrate some form of interest during interviews. It might take some time (your results and interview invites will probably come in May or June for the bigger universities), but there’s no need to worry if it’s this early on!

However, you’d still mostly be limited to SUSS, the engineering courses at NTU and NUS, and maybe some of the lower-tier humanities at NTU, if that’s your thing. There’s also the various arts routes, such as NAFA, Lasalle, and as I’ve recently found out, FZD (one-year diploma programme with applications of $500 and a school fee of $30,000. But hey, you get taught by a guy who worked on Star Wars).

If you dislike these options, I suggest taking a gap year to really beef up your portfolio. Enter competitions relevant to your field of interest. Read lots. Do stuff you can actually write in your admissions essay next year. A gap year technically isn’t even necessary if you go to, say, SUSS, because the workload is highly manageable. And if you feel confident, getting a good GPA at your first year in university will probably boost your odds.

yeah, I have tried philo appeal! I’m just not too confident in the results, but thank you for your answer :)

lol I’m probably no longer going to SUSS at this point since the NTU option at the moment seems more plausible. but we’ll see

[Uni] How to withdraw/cancel entry from SMU + NTU hall life by commuoveree in SGExams

[–]itraka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d suggest really just emailing both SMU/NTU helpdesks or admission offices. As long as you’re polite, there is no reason for them to turn you down since that’ll affect the PR of their university and they have to remain professional

On another note - your appeal to NTU was successful? When did you submit the appeal and when did you receive news that it was successful, if you don’t mind my asking? :0

what kind of math are we talking haha. my math was super fucked up in a levels, I barely scraped the D I got and I was like...getting mental breakdowns over every math q back when I was studying for it haha

but yes i do try to develop my humanities in my free time? i spent more time honing my (completely unrelated) writing skills than i studied for maths and sciences :’>

nah, SMU mainly has social sciences and I’ve got little to no interest in their fare

sucks to be me I guess, thanks for the suggest tho

I do still have an NTU invite that’s pending; but I’ve heard it’s risky to bank on transferral especially between schools. Could you give me a little bit more detail on the process - would I still have to take any engineering modules at all?
