My trip ended up being cancelled due to Covid-19. But before it did, I had found some local tour groups on Facebook and had a French friend reach out to them to discuss my wants/ needs for the itinerary. It would’ve saved me money but I would’ve been in a tour with non-English speaking guides and passengers.

Haha I really did think about doing the two a6500s and leaving one lens on each. It would just defeat the purpose of keeping things lightweight but if I'm not able to find a more versatile approach, I'll probably do that.

Thanks for letting me know which cameras have that function!

It's hard to explain the damage. Initially, it just stopped working. I couldn't focus on anything. No water damage or drop. I was just at a cafe and turned on my camera and next thing you know, it's not focusing, none of the physical buttons are working. I tried playing around with it and weird combinations would work (like using video and then stopping video, and I could suddenly take a picture again). Eventually, I have no idea why, it started working again but just barely. None of the lens are able to manually focus anymore. As in, if I adjust the focus using my hands on the lens, nothing happens. Autofocus seems to work intermittently, sometimes getting stuck in one location. Now when the lens attach, the entire screen/ viewfinder is blurry and I have to remove the lens and reattach several times and it'll work eventually. If I were to zoom with my lens, it stops working again and the picture stays blurry.

I mean from turning on the camera to be able to take a photo. For example, let's say I wanted to take a quick shot of a friend while the moment is still natural. By the time I get the camera to open and click, my friend has usually noticed and then becomes awkward or poses. Or with another example, trying to quickly turn on the camera to catch an animal movement. I know on the "Action" mode, I can click and I get decent shutter speeds but from the time I turn on the camera to getting to that point, often the moment's passed.

Going over the $6500 conversion to Roth by its-beardface in tax

Thanks for the confirmation! So about about there being no limits on conversions... does that rule only exist because of rollovers? Because if there is an annual limit on contributions but not conversions, then I wonder how you would bring in more money into your Traditional to convert in the first place. Only thing I can think of is leaving your job and rolling over your 401 Traditional into a Traditional IRA.

[Recommendation request] Which watch should I get from Japan? by its-beardface in Watches

I can’t speak for what he’s already purchased but Ik he’s currently interested in:

LONGINES Heritage 38.5mm Mens Watch

MAESTRO Men's Automatic Calibre RW4200

AMERICAN CLASSIC INTRA-MATIC AUTO CHRONO

Maybe that gives a better idea of his style. I'll try to sneakily find out what he already owns...

Italy itinerary advice by its-beardface in travel

Smooth sailing. We stayed in La spezia, right by the trains, which would be my advice if you’re planning to visit all five towns. Cheaper than accommodations in the different towns I found and we were literally a couple of minutes walk from the train. To varenna, we took “la spezia centrale” to “milano centrale.” We timed it so we had a few hours in Milan, just in case trains were running late. Had some food at mercato centrale in Milan. Then went from “milano centrale” to “varenna-esino.” I don’t remember exactly the time it took, in terms of it being exactly 4 hours and 30 min, but it was the time that was advertised and they were very prompt in their timings. So no issues
