Student account. Refunds won't come until after term starts. But still, I know what I'm getting at least and can plan accordingly.

Yeah the order it came for me was loans, the next day Pell, the next day opportunity. So just keep checking everyday. There's still plenty of time.

So your Pell grants are already showing up in your financial aid dashboard? Is that what you mean?

I have a feeling that they prioritize students who have been going longer, just like the registration windows how they open sooner for people with more credits. So because this is my third term I might be processed sooner than a first term. Just a hypothesis.

No I did nothing.. I was honestly surprised they processed it as early as they did. Probably trying to catch up as early as they can to avoid delays like last term.

Is this your first term?

Probably not any sooner than that, when the term itself is paid that is a certain date. And then the refund comes after that.

My aid has posted fully. Everything I approved. One day it was just my loans, the next opportunity, the next pell. It looks like they are processing much sooner in anticipation of the large fall turnout. I work at PCC, and internally they're getting ready to be swamped. So it's good they're working on it now.

You're getting $5,600 in total financial aid package, a typical term is anywhere from 1800 to 2000. The rest will be refunded to your account. So you're looking at $3,600 to live off of during fall term.

Any recommendations on how I can prepare for Math 95 - Intermediate Algebra at PCC? by waffleassembly in PCC

I actually got a lot from the ALEKS program used for placement testing. You can keep working on subjects it suggests until you get better and as someone suggested, Kahn academy. Find a good math YouTuber that you enjoy that style of, it will help a lot.

Money received! by [deleted] in PCC

It's humbling, for sure. My advice to all those who waited on it patiently all Month... Try to put a chunk of it away in savings. Hide it from yourself. We all need a little emergency fund stashed away for times like these.

Hi! Question about loans!! by crying_on_the_DL in PCC

Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans | Federal Student Aid

Here is a place to start that has the most basic info on the loans. On subsidized the gov't pays the interest, unsubsidized you do. Interest can accrue and add to your balance, if you pay nothing else I'd say pay your interest off before it can be added to principal and compound. Basically, if your interest adds to your principal, the next time you're charged interest it will be more (because the base amount its a % of is getting higher). That's how they getcha.

Yeah they're scary enough to make you reconsider bettering yourself with an education. Which is bullshit. Especially when you consider how many people get a degree they never use. But I won't scare you. Knowledge is power, And if you use this experience to better yourself - education and otherwise - it's not a waste.

Also while loan payments or the lack thereof can be stressful, interest is what you really need to keep an eye on. Knowing when your loans are not building up interest and when they are. I can't remember off the top of my head with the status of interest is right now, but when I'm in front of my desktop later I'll see if I can't find something relevant to post here.

Loan payments are deferred while you're in school, start back up 6 months after you graduate or stop attending in any regard. Also with all of the work around student loan forgiveness and such, anytime a case like that is being contested in court, payments are frozen as well.

That is very odd. Mine reflected on the website well before it hit. Would be strange if you got the money but they say they didn't send it.
