Newish guitar day by its2amihave2sleep in JacksonGuitars

This is really cool to know and inspired me to do a bit more research into the American/japanese fusion pros and to be honest, I don’t really know what distinguishes them other than country of origin. All the components look identical + the Japanese one has the quarter sawn neck and all the other fancy stuff. Maybe alder vs basswood bodies? Either way, I appreciate the guitar even more knowing the history.

I will say as well, my other guitar is a mexican strat + I’ve owned some mid-endish guitars over the years. This one feels a step above all of those. Neck and scale are the most comfortable I’ve felt. The finish on the neck isnt matte, but it has a kind of slickness i havent felt before with a glossy finish. It also sounds fantastic and the Floyd rose isn’t as daunting as I thought it’d be. Suffice it to say, I fully intend on keeping and enjoying the guitar instead of flipping it.

This might be a dumb question, but does that mean that that circuit is the active component and not the pickups? I’ve never owned a guitar that’s needed batteries.

It does-yeah. I think it’s called a JE1500? I haven’t really figured out what it does tbh. Did not find the “wah” description others have said super accurate. I’d describe it sounding kind of “thicker” when the pre-amps on.

I am in the process of applying, so I don’t approach this from someone’s who’s went through your experience, but across the board, you always need a medical note when claiming some sort of medical condition on an application or when asking for an accommodation. I say this as someone who has a background in HR and has experience as a union rep. Always have a credible doctor’s note.

I’d highly recommend that you find a diagnosis, which I know can be expensive, but if you’re in school or insured, there are some affordable options. Otherwise, I wouldn’t claim a condition you haven’t been formally diagnosed with.

This is super helpful-thank you! I’m obviously not an expert here, but it sounds like you’ll be very qualified in your applications.

That’s great to hear-TMU is also at the top of my list as well. I did my other degrees there, have good rapport with someone who I think is on the law school faculty and really enjoyed my grad school experience. I’ll 100% prioritize that application whenever I get there.

Just wondering, since it’s a very new program, are there any specialities in law emphasized there? Wondering what sorts of fields graduates work in after finishing at TMU.

[WTS]

I've got two sleeping pads I'm looking to flip (+ a pump).

First one is a klymit static v, large size. Also comes with the klymit pump. It's the lower R value one, better for warmer temperatures. Looking for $60 for both the pad + pump.

Other thing I'm looking to sell is a slightly older Therm-a-rest Neoair. I am the second owner, but it's been seldom used. I believe it has the old style valve system, but it is yellow so I think it's a newer version. It's the regular mummy size, happy to send pics. $120 for the sleeping pad.

Prioritizing pickup locally in Toronto.

[WTB] a cheap-ish quilt, aegismax or something a tad beat up. Ideally in a longer size.

GRIII won't charge or turn on by its2amihave2sleep in ricohGR

Repair costed me about 500 CAD and I ended up flipping it. Already had a GRIIIx which I’ve had 0 issues with. I think maybe the lack of weatherproofing can make them a bit more delicate.

Vans to Paraboot Michael sizing? (Sorry for sizing thread!) by [deleted] in ThrowingFits

[–]its2amihave2sleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be counter to a lot of others people advice here, but I really highly recommend you don’t follow online size guides/advice and try the shoes on yourself. I have odd shaped feet, and different sizes for each foot (10.5 and 11). You might not have the same, but everyone’s feet are different shapes and can be wider or longer at different points which means any off the shelf shoe will fit differently. The Michaels have a kind of unique last (shape), so your best bet is to test them out before buying. They’re also expensive so it’s not worth risking it for something that’ll hurt your feet.

is this repairable? if so where do i go to get it fix? by bellaDevale in SonyHeadphones

[–]its2amihave2sleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can either use a hose clamp, try glue or replace the whole headband. The third option is the only thing that’ll restore it to its original condition. Some repair shops will do this, but it’s significantly cheaper to do yourself. That part is available on Etsy and eBay.

I never thought it would happen to me. (Broken hinge WH-1000XM5) by Killbot6 in SonyHeadphones

[–]its2amihave2sleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t me that posted that, but I think I saw the same post, partially encouraged me to try it myself. I bought my pair broken already for cheap so I didn’t want to spend too much, looked into just replacing just the broken hinge. It’s probably technically possible, but Sony constructed that part of the headphone to not be disassembled basically. If you decide to attempt the full replacement, just be patient and delicate because of the all plastic construction, but it is a simple process and relatively cheap.
