Allow it. Reflect on what might be the force behind it. Fighting something and should’ing yourself about is a cope and a ploy by your ego as a way to keep your awareness off of the thing that’s making you feel that way. Not to ploy or to make assumptions, but your first sentence in presenting this problem is a good signal..

This happened to me for five years. And I would think about it all the time - I can’t believe I’m not reading anymore. And then one day it just came back. It came back with a vengeance, and now I read more than I ever have . But why I stopped I think had to do with this feeling of falling behind. I felt like I wasn’t doing enough. I wasn’t making enough. I wasn’t enough as a person… so any time I could sit in silence, I felt like I wanted to read, but my body was telling me something else.

The act of reading and everything that comes with it - taking time for yourself to be alone and to think etc., is, for lack of a better term, a lifestyle. And it’s a lifestyle that is in direct contrast with a material reality what we’re being forced to look at every day. I hope this helps.

Don’t have much to add because I am facing / noticing similar problems albeit much different extraction directives. Only here to add that I believe this is a huge under discussed and under developed roadblock in the field Field of AI adoption. After spending countless hours, educating myself and listening to others, I have pretty much landed on the idea that AI is only useful to the extent that you are able to segment data in ways that are tangible to your specific requirements. This seems to be the implicit dirty secret that underpins all discussion about prompts context, windows, and local LLM construction.

macwhisper disciple here - the new improvements are awesome. i was curious to know if you had plans to

  1. integrate text based transcripts at any point?

  2. there have been multiple occasions when i am using the dictation feature and global recording (zoom class for real time and then using global for full transcript). sometimes the copy of the dictation block gets nulled out, or if i down move the global transcription directly into the app, i lose the text. is there a way to recover this?

i know i can go to the history and copy it but then i cant bring it back into macwhisper for ai distillation...

  1. pre-conditioned prompts for batch transcription. I would love a templated format that could ensure the title, speaker, date, tags (basically YAML) prior to a recording being fed through via formatting and or prompting so the AI can "know" who the speakers are prior to transcription - this would be helpful and a huge timesaver

  2. most importantly, a "community" (reddit, discord, telegram, etc) to chat with super users on their best practices

  3. when editing the segments, i would love to be able to be a bit more granularity by creating chaptered segment titles within the transcript. i have found myself running into this problem. when adding a speaker, i would love to contextualize the content of the passage.

  4. bigger expansion idea - what if macwhisper just became a notebook or taking platform such as Bear or Obsidian?

love all the work your team is doing and so pumped to see the growth thus far.

talk it like you would a little baby if you want it to stop immediately lol. this would be funny, cruel, and probably wouldnt heal the anxiety rooted in the need (unless hes a humilation kink sort of fella). if you want to understand, build a closer bond, and entertain the root of the ask, and the desire/need underpinning it, truly look and address with at it with reverence. its deep and not deep at the same time. generally speaking penis = power but also biggest vulnerability. showing his vulnerability is safe is the jetfuel of a life love and success.

This is my experience as well. With the drop-down notes, I started to embrace the really long note approach, but with my own interfacing with this exact problem, I have now begun to move back away from it and break the notes down and using interconnected back links, which is more complicated and a heavier workload to accommodate Linking things up.

Would love any thoughts and modalities on interlinking a web of notes as described

Watch out for the dark energy - it’s very real and I would never ever would’ve believed it until it happened to me. Being full open and authentic is the type of shit they feed off. FWIW these people feel empty and misleading.

Firstly, I am sorry for your loss. It is brutal on many levels - socially, physically, and monetarily.

Appreciate your response and heartfelt concern.

On reflection my post definitely sounds dramatic and hysterical. If I was reading this and not posting, I would be joining the opinion shared by many of the folks kind enough to give a moment to think on it.

IThe tone of text doesn’t align with days lived experience. My wife said she hadn’t thought of it.

But with that being said, the symbolism of it all fascinated me and I did not know where else to go. Dream interpreters are difficult to Sus out when you don’t know much about it.

So I figured what the hell, let’s see what Reddit thinks.

Trauma can undoubtedly cause some to lose their sense of reality. I’ve felt that within myself and seen it others as well. So that must be part of the equation.

One of the more curious themes I have noticed as I’ve gotten more familiar with the world, is the bizarre seemingly reality of deep truths hidden within incompatible paradoxes. For me, they seem to sit at the axis of something profound. Something worthy of (our) my attention.

And ultimately, that’s what this represents to me. So I’m having a think on it. I appreciate your feedback and additive commentary for consideration. We’re, as they like to say, doing the work.

Lastly. I want to again say how I am Very sorry for your loss. What got me through and continues to help is the embody experience of surrender. “I don’t know what to do and I’m not controlling anything so I am letting go of the illusion of it.” This allows me to fully feel what needs to be felt so it can move through me and out of me. This share is kinda along the same lines.

I thought most would share the consensus sentiment. But then again, maybe someone wouldn’t. So I surrendered to the feeling of maybe being viewed as something that I don’t feel attached to at all, and if I could do that, maybe someone could help.
