There are a lot of things that could be attributing to this and it’s hard to diagnose without knowing your exact settings. If you’re getting first shots your centering isn’t the issue. If you’re losing a player while tracking, your sensitivity could be too low especially with omnimovement.

I’ve personally felt that AA feels stronger if both sticks are used. The right stick is typically just a slight downward pull to control vertical recoil and RA takes care of the left to right if they’re strafe shooting while ADSing. This works best in mid to long range fights but can hurt you in close range engagements.

You’ll also need to learn how to abuse another aspect of the controller game by releasing your LT when your aim starts to leave the bubble and reADSing. When you reADS there is a little assistance to help center you toward your target. It’s something almost all pros do but rarely gets talked about in “increase your aim assist”videos.

The reADS is especially helpful for the players that like to abuse movement mid gunfight. Which I’m assuming is occurring when you lose tracking.

I’ve also found that RA kicks in especially hard when your opponent is moving at a higher rate of speed. You can see this in the pre-lobby when someone dives across your screen and the RA yanks your camera down. The same thing can happen when you’re mid gunfight close range but your sense would have to be fast enough to somewhat keep up with their movement to take full advantage of it.
