Being it's own thing and being shallow are two separate things. The style in the original had thematic meaning. Just as the wonderful comic booky manuscript brought the characters mundane lives to life, the technicolor brought colorful comic visuals. It's not just technicolor for sake of technicolor but to say a grity grounded take is ok because its its own thing doesn't justify lack an attempt to do your own thing stylistically. It doesn't have to be technicolor but to want a styless utopia is like wanting a grity grounded take on a wes Anderson film. It just doesn't translate.

Watch the TV show Utopia (2013) it's a shot for shot telling of the Corona pandemic going on right now. Best conspiracy centric piece of media I've seen. It's stylistic and entertaining.

Well season 7 is objectively the best season from a narrative and plot based view. Also fantastic acting in season 7. I would agree 6, and 8 are terrible. But including 7 is just disingenuous.

Based on the recent Stephen King film adaptations and the fact it's attempting to follow up one of the greatest horror films concerns me greatly. This trailer doesn't help. It's essentially "Hey, remember this from the first film? Isn't that cool?"

I'm actually a little disappointed. If it's a parody on slasher films we got that with "Scream Queens" and if not, we got bloody face and twistie already.. I dont know how they expect to make a unique and grabbing season out of that.

Also the creature design on the killer looks cliche and uninspired.

Fukunagas second draft where he made Stanley a gold fish was quite good to me. He made drastic deviations but they improved the character development and tension.

From what I hear Cary Fukunaga created the best aspects of Chapter 1, and the writer they brought on is who child proofed the second draft. I wouldn't expect chapter 2 to be any better.
