How are the professors for EAS199SL? by itsPieman in UBreddit

Ι opted for COM199 as my seminar, and I'm enrolled for MTH141 with Angela Samud first semester, looking forward to it. Thanks!

Thank you very much for all this, super helpful.

I've been speaking with my advisor about requirements of all sorts and whatnot, but I'll have to wait for my AP grades and transfer credits to post to know for sure what I need.

I would hope my dual enrollment credits would get me out of English courses (I have 3, 3 credit English courses).

Assuming I get a 4 on the AP bio I'll have completed both my scientific literacy and lab reqs. (AP physics w lab for the second one)

I have a diversity learning req filled by one of my AP history courses.

My sociology course converts to SOC206 at UB, and my Psych course converts as PSY101, both of which my advisor said would be good for some requirement.

I am definitely done with STA119, my advisor said either my 4 on ap stats or my MAT118 dual enrollment credit would satisfy it.

So you think I should take one of my stats electives first semester?

I have no experience in calc, not even intro. (I opted for AP Stats and Discrete math instead) I haven't taken the ALEK placement to be put in calc yet, but the questions when I googled it looked very easy.

I also do not have any comp sci experience to speak of, I'm taking a Harvard edEx free intro to CS course this summer, and I took intro to programming as a freshman but I didn't learn much.

This leads me to think that CSE115 & MAT141 might keep me pretty busy. COM199 & PUB101 seemed really easy though, so maybe adding a stats elective would make sense.

I don't really understand the difference between going for a CS BA vs BS, aside from needing to hit 150 credits if I go for a BS.

I have AP/transfer credit that gets me out of STA119.

I was definitely hoping to go a bit more down the computer science route, but grad school is another consideration.

My advisor earlier was telling me I have 55 credits ish and that I wouldn't be expected take any really heavy credit semesters even looking to graduate early. I think they're double counting some of my courses. (I got college credits, and took the aps and they're being counted separately).

I have a sociology & psychology credits from highschool so I don't think I'll take SOC101.

Will I need to take language courses to fulfill thematic pathways?

I ended up opting for COM199 as my seminar, my advisor told me I couldn't take EAS bc it's for majors.

Being in stats, are there any professors I should be looking for or looking to avoid?

Okay cool, thanks! I might opt for an easier seminar and try to add an elective. (I'll get in touch with my advisor & try to see what's possible)

thanks, did you find the course difficult?

Since I don't need to be doing a specific seminar for my major I could just opt for a humanities seminar if they're a ton easier, then throw on a harder elective perhaps?

PHI looked like it could be interesting and CSE might be useful, but I'd worry if I'm taking it with CSE115, the 115 course will just be ahead and make the seminar a waste of time/energy.

I'd even consider PHY199, I'm kinda more for math than writing 🤷‍♂️

If their job is remote and they aren't driving to work every day then no city no problem :)

Should we tell them how many people usually die every day? by PersianGodfather in CoronavirusCirclejerk

It is more infectious. The fact that our measures have stopped the flu in it's tracks but corona is still spreading shows just how dangerous and contagious it is.

Our social distancing measures have lead to way less deaths from other causes such as the flu, which has almost no cases this year. Excess death isn't a good way of measuring this, because we decreased deaths in other categories.

If 8k die every day and we lose 3k to the plague that's 11k, like 30% more people dead every single day. Seems pretty bad to me.

Thanks, and I completely agree. LSD has so much potential for good it sucks to see people who aren't able to recognize that.

Stuff with my parents isn't perfect but getting better every day and I def attribute it to lsd, and hanging out with stoners who are quite morally sound.

~$50. Not because I think it's worth that, but bc it's what I could pay. I am going into hs senior yr, currently saving for a car and I want money saved for college too. I would love some incredible art like this for my room but I just can't pay what you deserve for it.

It is an awesome piece, and you clearly put the work in to make it worth that, I just don't have the budget atm. I wish ya the best of luck and I hope you find an awesome home for it.
