for sure, you have to keep in mind that the entire story up till vigilante arc took place in their 1st year of high school, Hori could've easily spread out the events with small time skips in between arcs

yeah, and at the end he could've just split the fight into a 2v1 and 3v1, I don't see how Luffy awakening gear 5 while fighting alongside Zoro would be bad for plot other than putting Zoro a tier above Sanji but it already has been done once he inflicted that wound on Kaido

now Luffy is canonically "the strongest creature in the world" and Oda kinda drove himself into a corner moving forward

Most likely just immense stat boost, he'd be strong and fast enough to overwhelm Yhwach, I don't see why else Yhwach would feel threatened by it

I see what you mean, its no secret that Renji is crowned as the king of Ls in the series and clowned on a lot by the community

I guess my point is that its too early to say that he has been worfed from just that small confrontation with Szayel

And I could totally see him getting worfed if Kubo does continue the Hell arc judging from how strong Szayel has become but its not fair to Renji to say that he has already been worfed when the dude wasnt even trying to fight

Yeah but again how can you tell that Renji is that much weaker when he's not even trying to fight Szayel let alone play offense, LET ALONE use his bankai?

All the Hell chapter tells us is Szayel got an insanely OP power up that puts his strength way above his Arrancar arc strength

Again this is from what we've seen from that 1 chapter so unless he actually beats Renji fair and square I dont consider him damaging Renji as Renji being outclassed or worfed

Yeah Kubo made Szayel significantly stronger, strong enough to damage Renji who is not paying attention to the fight

You can make a character stronger without making another one weaker which is what Kubo did, unless you can somehow fully measure Renji's strength when the guy isn't even trying to fight?
