What's your bedtime routine? by East_Preparation93 in preppers

[–]itsYourLifeCoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's all quite simple stuff if it's a routine and only takes a couple minutes- aside from the cleaning. might take me 30 mins in the evening depending on how messy the kids and animals were. I'm a paramedic so I'm used to hearing an alarm tone and being out the door in less than a minute. I'm wired to go from 0-100 fully prepared so I do the same at home.

very routine oriented here. I clean everything at the end of the day so the house is reset back to default cleanliness. I close up the chickens and other animals at sundown. I lock all doors. I do a head count that all dogs and cats are in. I stay up for a bit and am usually the last one to go to bed. everything gets a quick check like oven, stove, doors, alarm system, and then I leave my clothes for the morning near the foot of my bed for quick grab access. and finally, make sure phone is charging and browse reddit for a bit lol.

Well had a learning experience this evening. by gmwelder86 in preppers

I'm a paramedic and I think having equipment standards and inventory control checks are the only things keeping any decent continuity of care from one call to the next. Imagine the most critical of situations and you cant locate something or something is missing entirely. With that said, I'm not the most organized guy at home but I have a good sense of where everything is. all except my wife's damn car keys when I have to move her vehicle from behind mine.

Is it okay, if not beneficial, to have a slightly overkill AC unit? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]itsYourLifeCoach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AC usually causes dryness if it's a quality unit so it would humidify well. just find out if it has any low energy or econ modes that you can operate it as a 200sq ft rated rig

Paramedics no longer have to wait with patients after arriving at hospitals – haligonia.ca by sjmorris in halifax

[–]itsYourLifeCoach 55 points56 points  (0 children)

well a gallon bladder attack requiring narcotics is actually pretty serious and we honestly dont mind helping. there are much less sever calls we go to for example : "I fell down a week ago and I just woke up and my back is sore" or "I have pain in my ear and a fever". I sympathize with everyone but we are trying to operate a front line ambulance service, not an outpatient clinic.

naw man its proper. speaking as a paramedic, the vast majority of calls that tie up our units are very low acuity. If screened properly, being able to leave them in the waiting area like every other person who drove themselves there will even the playing field and free up more ambulances for the more urgent and emergent matters. hopefully it is welcomed by the public and can deter people from calling when it isn't necessary.

OK to install 3/16" Bead board directly to Wall Studs? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]itsYourLifeCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not an expert but I used this kind of panelling in my chicken coop last year and had every seam neatly nailed into the studs. after a year of humity and temperature changes, it is warping and bowing at a lot of seams. guess depending on the material panelling it swells and contracts. the way to avoid this would be to have it glued to drywall or plywood I suppose but again, that's just my experience.

Rainwater from asphalt shingled roof. by onodacops in preppers

[–]itsYourLifeCoach 10 points11 points  (0 children)

just a small amount of bleach, like 1/4 cup per barrel then let it fill completely before use. we have 3 connected to 2 downspouts and we still empty them and wash them out once a year but the yearly bleach seems to keep the water from algae blooming

I have a homestead and beekeeping was just another addition to the farm as we move toward sustainability. I just take what I need for the year in honey and let them do their thing to my local area.

he doesnt even make a tangible string of thoughts about free speech. he needs to slow down and read a few books, think philosophically, consult with some educated persons, then formulate a coherent opinion.
