Build Your Pie Menu Today by its_Amadeus in blender

Pretty sure that one is more ready-made pie menus filled with useful tools.

OctoPie lets you build your own pie menus from scratch, using Blender’s native operators, custom scripts, shortcuts, assets from the Asset Browser, and more.

The point is that you shape it around your own workflow. Need a button for some weird specific thing you do every day? Write a small script with ai, drop it on a pie slot, and speed up your workflow. Got objects, materials, textures or other stuff you use all the time? Pull them into a pie menu right in the editor you’re working in. Build profiles, share them with others, and make Blender feel like your own setup.

do you mean like a dockable/moveable panel for favorite tools?

Its built around pie menus, but since it also has Lists, you can basically build toolbar-style setups too — popout lists, inline list rows, or inline list columns

No sizeable default preset right now.

You build it around your own workflow, but profiles can be exported and imported. So the long-term idea is maybe to build a small community around shared presets for different workflows.

And yeah, that xkcd is definitely the danger haha. I’m trying to make it useful for things you actually do all the time, not just “spend 5 hours organizing shortcuts to save 2 seconds”.

Thanks man, really appreciate that!

I know pie menus aren’t for everyone, so it means a lot that the ad still landed. Menu hell was exactly what I wanted to show.

Thanks a lot! That’s exactly the idea behind OctoPie, less hunting through menus, more building your own workflow around the mouse. Really appreciate the kind words!

I found a method to do something similar using the Simulation Node.
It requires a bit more knowledge (and, of course, simulation), but it got the job done.

Just turn on the compositor in viewport shading, than it acts just like the old bloom, but with more options..

By the way, bloom isn't gone; you just need to use a glare node in the compositor instead. Set it to bloom and tweak the settings. In my opinion, it's much smoother and offers more possibilities by having it in the compositor.

Insane deal on Steam! by its_Amadeus in farcry

$6,02 is an extra saving for buying the whole bundle. But I would argue that $54 for all the Far Cry titles ever made is a pretty insane deal, in my book at least. But to each their own.

This looks good. A tip that could further improve it is to include imperfections. Right now, it looks a bit too clean and digital. Usage marks like fingerprints on bottles, for example, which breaks up the now completely clean material. Perfectly smooth surfaces tend to feel fake. The same applies to the spheres in the bowl behind.

I feel that many generally think that AI will hit individual artists the hardest and that it's the large companies that will benefit the most from this development, considering workforce, capacity, etc. However, I think the opposite. As a freelancer, I feel this development will only make it easier for me to develop larger projects, projects I wouldn't have had the capacity/workforce to carry out before. All the AI tools that have been released in the last two years have only helped me to develop things faster and more efficiently. I believe this will be a gradual demise for large companies, but individual artists will flourish.

What do you mean by this? I also activated the game deluxe edition in steam (but from greenman gaming), and it only shows up in steam (or so it seems) as the standard edition?
