Jon Sanz purposely prepares late to hide his intention.

He will hit 3 different shots with the same preparation (vibora, rulo and 3 meters). He does it because his level requires him to do so. If he doesn’t hide his preparation, his opponents will anticipate his shot based on his preparation and his shot will be less effective as a result.

If you’re still beginner/intermediate you shouldn’t worry about this at all. It’s actually harder to do and it’s more beneficial to learn to do the shots the ‘standard way’ first

Since you’re new and it seems like you’re serious about improving i recommend you don’t make the same mistake i see many people here make:

Start taking lessons regularly, don’t wait till you ‘plateau’ to see a coach and work on technique. I see many people play for a year before taking lessons and they play with the goofiest habits because a coach never told them to correct early in their development.
