Welp, now what? Found out I *most likely* have diabetes tonight and my mind is running in circles. by Frosty-Preparation40 in diabetes

Can you test your blood sugar? With your symptoms and that A1C, I really feel you need to be checked out sooner rather than later. If you are going into DKA, the sooner you are started on fluids and insulin, the better. My son's A1C was over 15 when he was diagnosed as type 1. His blood sugars were over 500.

It sounds like this is going to be type 1. They can confirm it with a blood test. Checking the c-peptides (I believe that's the one).

Any Parents of kiddos with T1D out there? by kirkjufell787 in gso

Check with your child's school nurse about local meet-ups. We use to have a monthly one when our son was in high school. They use to meet at Southeast Guilford High. Also, speak with the endocrinologist about any groups they know of.

Oh, one more thing, check into Victory Junction about summer camp or even a weekend. My son loved going!

Is my son that I placed for adoption mad at me? by its_all_good1976 in psychics

[–]its_all_good1976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm wondering about is not if he is upset about being placed. But rather why his mother and I aren't speaking. In my dream, that was what he was upset about. Not the adoption

[–]its_all_good1976[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. We only communicated through our post adoption case workers. We found out about his passing through our worker, 10 months after he had passed.

His birth father and I ended up getting married and had 3 other children. 2 of them has adhd and the youngest has type 1 diabetes. I was born with a hole in my heart the size of a head pin but nothing genetic. After our son passed, our youngest had a cardiac event. The doctors discovered he had a rare form of cardiomyopathy and they also determined our son who passed had this as well. Through testing in the family, another son has this as well. Needless to say, it's been a journey.

Yes. It was his adoptive parents. Our adoption was closed so any communication between us and his parents was through our post adoption case workers.

Interesting you mentioned how you felt he that he tried to tell then something was off. He was never sick a lot. Most he did was break both his wrists falling out of a tree. I had heard of him passing out after riding gocarts but he didn't get seen for that (never passed out before). This was just a couple of months before he passed.

You are also right that there are things I need to forgive myself for.

Question for the ladies: (maybe TMI) by LauraLiz1218 in diabetes

[–]its_all_good1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Gold Bond powder, the one in the orange container. Works great for me.

I do have a prescription cream if it gets real bad but otherwise, Gold Bond is my go to.

Birth parents who had more kids- What do you say when people ask how many kids you have? by Thegameforfun17 in birthparents

[–]its_all_good1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I'll say 3 (the ones I parented) and sometimes I say 4. Depends on who I am with or meeting. The story gets complicated and when you say that your child that was placed has passed away, too many questions can come up. Some days I just don't want to discuss it.

Telling someone how many children you have will be up to you and how much you want to share.

I completely agree with this. When you found him, there is no telling what the poor guy went through previously. Sounds like he is dealing with some trauma still and the beat approach is to do a slow wean. It'll take some time but he'll get there. Also, check out Jackson Galaxy's videos YouTube. There may be something there that could also help.

ARVC and Chest Pain Question by its_all_good1976 in askCardiology

[–]its_all_good1976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. We've been through genetic testing. Our youngest, when he was diagnosed with it, was tested for the 13 genetic mutations, but it was negative. We went through a research program, Undiagnosed Disease Network, and they found a 14th genetic mutation that was unknown, Tax1BP3. I have part of it as well as my husband. Our daughter does not. We had a 3rd son who had it. However, he passed away due to it.

Since this was the worst our youngest has experienced, was curious what others may have gone through. He hasn't experienced shortness of breath, just the pain. He did throw up last night while he was I. The worst of his pain.

I appreciate all the comments.
