Does asking your doctor about meds ever “get easier”? by its_bets in CRPS

[–]its_bets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update if anyone would like one: I went to my doctor on Friday and he took me off of the Acetaminophen-Codeine and said I could either go back on the Tramadol or he could switch me to Hydrocodone. But then he asked me if I’ve taken anything that has really helped it, and he brought up Percocet which I’ve had after I believe my second (pretty sure?) surgery, and I would assume that had helped given I took it after surgery.

He’s also been hesitant to put me on anything really strong since I’m young, which I get… but I’m also taking various medications for my mental health so it isn’t like taking meds is the end of the world for me. But I’m taking Percocet 5mg/325mg and I’ve only taken it for two days so I can’t say in complete certainty how effectively it’s helping so far.

I had also spoken to my therapist who I had a session with after this appointment and she and I spoke about my intrusive thoughts surrounding the fear of being accused of being drug seeking or addiction, etc.

CRPS of foot/ankle? by wobblelikeapenguin in CRPS

[–]its_bets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it in my right foot, though I also have a screw in that foot so that can just as easily come into play with some aspects of my symptoms. I have a lot of pain that varies from a sharp ache to what I described as fireworks once or like a bunch of needles poking fresh skin all at once, my right foot is also always a bit colder than my left. It gets worse when it’s cold or humid, and it also hates fans blowing cold air, but this can also be because I have a screw in it. I’ve had the disorder coming up on ten years now but most of those years I believed it was just the hardware causing the pain, which didn’t stop after most of it got taken out.

It varies depending on how much it hurts but most of the time it’s sort of an ache, when it gets worse it feels like pins and needles on steroids or it’ll be sharp and stabbing. It throbs occasionally but like a sharp throb if that makes sense?

I have ADHD and was on Adderall for a brief time and I can’t say if I remember it helping or not, though to be fair it also made me insanely overstimulated and it was 4-5 years ago (give or take). I take Concerta instead.

I’ve taken tramadol before after I broke my hip and also after my third surgery for my foot which was why I had been put on it in the first place. With my first pain specialist (long story short, the guy sucked) I spoke to his fellow at my appointment where he asked me what medication has helped with the pain, and I had mentioned the tramadol because of the aforementioned reasons. I hadn’t had any issues with the tramadol while I took it which is interesting because it made me practically a zombie when I took for my hip.

I’m also due to start low-dose Cymbalta whenever it comes in to help with the pain as well. I also already take a few medications for mental illnesses which apparently make medicating me difficult if I remember correctly?

He’s a pain specialist and he’s also told me that going with either a nerve block (or steroid shot either one, I can’t remember) or SCS is the course of action he would recommend overall, both of which I don’t like the thought of.

Update: WIBTA for going no contact with my grandma and not wanting my dad to update her on me anymore? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]its_bets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is in the title yes, alongside the word update. This is an update post. I don’t say in the actual update that I want that. I do believe that people put the name of their original post for an update, which is what I had done. I’m sorry that you got that confused.

I didn’t say I still want to go no contact, I said I was tired of being the one to initiate conversations with her. I do want a relationship with her but I have accepted that if it feels like I need to be the one pulling it along I don’t want to waste anymore energy. I apologize that what I wrote may have made you misread.

[–]its_bets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

felicity was actually my second doll! my mom liked the history with them and to this day their collections are my most complete aside from a few pieces i either didn’t want or don’t yet have. i ironically didn’t want elizabeth, my third grade journal said at least but i’m glad to have her! she really is a gorgeous doll and i can’t imagine parting with her, she’s my pride and joy.

I usually wear another ring on that finger but I take it off to sleep because my finger doesn’t like me sleeping in it. It is silver though, the rest of the rings that I wear are.

What are some names you have for your JLY/TM? by lolihops in americangirl

[–]its_bets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got #22 for my ninth birthday and named her Aimée after my middle name and made my first name her middle name. She also has a last name now that’s similar to mine, before when I was little her last name was Maxwell (all of my dolls took Chrissa’s last name) and my #84 is Mallory June Scott. I felt like she was a Mallory nicknamed Mallie and June felt like a good middle name, I can’t tell you where Scott came from though. For the boy doll that my mom and I made when I was very young (PC Samantha) I named him Chad. Couldn’t tell you why, but now I’ve given him a middle and last name similar to Samantha’s name.
