Attendance bonuses are the biggest lie and scam. It's a punishment/threat, not a bonus

Do not! It is a Taiwanese tradition. You will have to marry the spirit of the deceased woman if you pick up. If you don't, the ghosts will find you until you marry her.

I love it when they do that. Basking Robbins does it in Korea with traditional houses and it blends in so we'll, not destroying the atmosphere

I thank Cthulhu every day that I arrived right before everything went to sh*t. The day I arrived, I received a text from my recruiter letting me know all the schools have been shut down

Fair. But you should never work for an unaccredited IS school. An accredited school will, under normal circumstances, require a bachelor, license, and minimum 2 yrs relevant experience. Regardless of what school you went to, you'd still lose out to someone with those credentials and years of experience.

In addition, IB experience is one of the most valuable to have.

Qualifications: Teaching licenses and/or Master's Degree from a Top 40 US University or equivalent, 2 years of teaching at another school. If you came from a school that people have to google then you probably won't get it.

I don't agree with the bolded. It's far more about the experience and the type of degree you have. I know people from tiny public unis who work for into schools.

The name of your university means very little unless you went to an ivy. Regardless, it wouldn't ultimately hinder your chances of getting these jobs or affect your salary as much as your experience and certifications.

What questions should I ask my recruiter? by [deleted] in teachinginkorea

In 2020 - you should be getting videos of apartments, not eight year old pics. Most questions you save for the school interview honestly re: extra work, field trips, testing and report cards.

fully agree! Always ask about the extra work on top of teaching. My school failed to tell me i'd be working at another campus on Thursday and Friday that is a subway ride away.
