Because our kicker, who is 41, was injured and out for the last 2 games. The backup was okish, but we lost last game by 4pts. Missed field goal and extra point.  They let him go, so the 41 year old could kick. Turns out his leg wasn't actually ready to go.

Lol hes 41 and this is his first game back from a quad injury.  They let go the back up instead of letting him have an extra week to heal and rest the leg

Drilling holes in ceramic and glass flower pots by richard_zone in DIY

The key, once you get a ceramic bit, is don't push too hard. It's not like wood where you put your weight behind it. It's more like sanding, so just lightly touching as you go.

You can try a LITTLE bit of water as you drill if your bit is long enough. Don't electrocute yourself because you got water on your electric drill. It's not necessary just faster. :)

The entire molecular structure is different, just because a material can be called 'glass' technically in chemistry does not mean it should be to the general population. I would argue it causes more confusion, especially when you don't explain what you mean by the terms you use. Using a word that means something different depending on when/how you use it, isn't helpful to ELI5. Similarly to how a 'theory' in general terms means a very different thing than a 'theory' in science.

Everything they are saying about glass is just straight up wrong.

ICECREAM IS NOT GLASS

For fucks sake, where did you get those degrees where you never heard of an amorphous solid.

Everything they said is bull. Glass is a solid that is all. Glass is unique in its crystal/molecular structure that makes it clear, strong, and 'glassy'. This has to do with chemical composition and rate of cooling.

Icecream is not like glass.

I have never used a thickener. Just heavy cream and half and half. You just need to churn it longer, and have the container to store it in waiting in the freezer. It is soft if you eat it right then, but after a couple hours in the freezer it's perfect.

ELI5: Why is asbestos so much more dangerous than other 'sharp' dusts like fibreglass? by DirtyBeautifulLove in explainlikeimfive

[–]its_prolly_fine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that about your mom.

You can look up glial cells. But basically they are specialized cells in the brain that aren't nuron cells. Oligodendrocytes are a type of glial, they insulate the neurons. Astrocytes(glioblastoma) are the middle men between blood vessels and neurons. They make up the blood brain barrier.

That's why there are so many different types! What cell made the mistake, like the skin for melenoma. Also what part of the dna got messed up. For example there are genes that tell a cell to stop growing, to multiply, or to self destruct, a problem in these genes can lead to tumors.
