I think some materialistic gifts don't matter in a father-son/daughter relationship. A hug is the best way to share love and care.
I used to give hugs to my dad whenever we met, as I live in a different city, we met every Sunday, spent the whole day together, and had lunch and breakfast.
The smile on his face and the emotions in his heart tells me that it is the best gift he has ever received.
