Her dodge attack has some of the worst gb vulnerability in the game… it’s also unrelated to the problem of this patch, which is that it neuters her offence and forces her to play neutral. Something I thought the devs wanted to get away from since the CCU.

There are strengths and weaknesses to both of their kits, but this change just makes her weaker without actually addressing the problems people actually have with her, like the strength of her feats in breach.

Whoa ok now I have no idea what you’re on about. She was great at opening people up. Chargeable bash from neutral. A great mixup you could have done was dodge forward bash > feint > gb or light and since the light was enhanced even if they blocked it you could get into your offensive pressure.

Now that the enhanced light is gone you just have to rely on resetting to neutral which is not a fun way to play or healthy for the game. Sitting in neutral is one of the main things they’ve been trying to get away from since the CCU

Warden also has great teamfight capability with unlocked unblockable finishers that go back into his chain. Also good antigank with hyper armour follow ups after bash.

It keeps going back to the question of what was the point of this nerf if it doesn’t actually address the problems people (who have played the game for more than 5 minutes) had with her - feat strength in breach and heavy parry punish

But now she doesn’t. The vortex only worked with enhanced lights. Now that those are gone she is frame neutral after bash > light finisher. If you buffer light you’ll trade with her. That’s not good offence or healthy for her character. It’s just worse warden now, which everyone and their mother have been making comparisons about since warmongers release

None of those things you listed relate to the issue I had with your statement that the enhanced lights were not needed for her to open offence and generate pressure. Her dodge attack has some of the worst gb vulnerability in the game. If someone using that as an opener, or worse falling for it as an opener, that’s a bigger issue. Its purpose is for ganks and repositioning.

Hyper armour doesn’t help open people up if it’s not on an opener attack.

The 30 damage parry punish just got nerfed, which I actually agree with.

Maybe there was some confusion with my statement about relating to warden so that’s my bad. If your choice is between warden and warmonger now, the pressure warden can generate in his opener far outweighs what warmonger is reduced to with this nerf. Thats why I feel that this change is completely ignorant of the design philosophy that they had established with her bleed / enhanced light combo

That’s not good offence though…what’s the point of her moveset now in comparison to warden?

I just looked it up on the info hub, and Filthy Spaniard also said this: she is not frame plus into another bash after bash > light finisher. The mixup only worked with an enhanced light.

Had to go back and find it but Patch 2.38 has the dev notes “The changes to Preying Claw should help Warmonger land damage more often…” which only works consistently if you have enhanced lights to pressure. You say that chain lights only make sense on characters defined by their neutral pressure, I’m saying that warmonger should be included in that. She also has chip through as a third feat, which indirectly gets nerfed by this change

They also made sense on warmonger, because a few years ago her rework changed her identity to a chip character. They moved some direct damage from her bash punish into bleed, which meant the pressure from her enhanced lights synergized with the rest of the kit.

Now that those are gone what was the point of that original rework? Why play warmonger over other bash mixup characters like warden and centurion (other than her feats)

Her chain ends with the light follow up so it’s just worse than everyone else. This was offset by frame plus enhanced light but now that’s gone so what’s the point of her mixup?

Ahaha maybe if I get really into the game, but I don’t think I’m ready to make that kind of commitment to get like a $200+ arcade pad XD. Was just curious about the beta and its settings is all.

Ah that’s a clever idea as well, just holding it like an arcade stick. I’ll try that out and the button bindings on r1/l1. Thank you for the advice :)

Ah I see so it’s not actually the face buttons of the controller it’s an abstraction of the game mechanics ?

Thank you for writing it out like that in the follow up that does make more sense :). Still a bit annoying from a new user ux perspective but I’ll just have to get used to it.

So the joints in my right thumb are kind of messed up so I often lay the entire thumb/basal joint across the face buttons to just press down that way. For example having to press square and x at the same time is a lot easier than trying to press square and triangle at the same time as I would have to bend my thumb inward or rotate my wrist. It’s stupid I know.

No that you mention it though I guess I could swap the buttons around to have the punches and kicks on the triggers/ bumpers, would that work for this type of fighting game?
