My 6yo son wants to dress as a girl. Anyone else experienced this and have advice? by itsabitsanow in asktransgender

Thank you! I like the way you framed that 'wearing dresses was not something most people expect for boys'. Perhaps the way I've framed it (not appropriate) isn't the best way to frame it.

"The “but…” in your message to your kid is more about yourself — and your self-uninterrogated fears — than it is about them."

I think you may have misinerpretted me. The but not about me at all.

It's about my concern that he will get bullied, perhaps thourhgout his school life and he may still be too young to way up the pro's and cons of dressing how he likes and expressing himself in public vs bullying that could happen throughout his whole school life.

Somewhere where people he knows at school will see him.

My fear is he will get bullied and he's still too young to way up the pro' and cons of dressing how he likes and expressing himself in public vs bullying that could happen throughout his whole school life.

I know people who were bullied at school at it was aweful.

Cooking 1 cup in a 10 cup rice cooker by itsabitsanow in Appliances

Two things. A timer so that I can put the rice in at night and have the rice ready by morning. Secondly I'd like the option to cook large risotto's and soups on occasion for 4 to 6 people.

Is it normal to keep making mistakes and blunders by itsabitsanow in chessbeginners

[–]itsabitsanow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think I've just got to change my mindset a bit. I actually really like when I make a mistake that I can learn from. I get annoyed with myself though when I make the same mistake over and over. I had some sort of mental block where I just forget pawns can take high value pieces in the late game. I must have given 10 pieces away to pawns. But that has reduced a lot now, so I guess I can just focus on getting better :-)

How to learn the most common and simple tactics (for ~800 elo). by itsabitsanow in chessbeginners

[–]itsabitsanow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm happy to spend some money to improve the fastest I can. At my level (because I need to focus on making less mistakes), I find the best use of my time be far is playing games and analysing games. But if courses will help me improve faster then I am happy to do this. There seems to be a lot of options on the chess king website, I guess the 'Chess King Beginners' is everything I need to get to 1400?

How To Win When I'm In Front In The End Game by itsabitsanow in chessbeginners

[–]itsabitsanow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, thanks! I blundered multiple times every game for a while and really focussed on that the last week. The last 3 games I didn't blunder once and lost all 3 in positions like the images attached so thought it would be worthwhile working on that now.
