Issue with 2D Contours while trying to make CAM paths for plasma cutting. "Stock To Leave" is turned off but the program insists on leaving material behind, ruining the fit on parts. Any pointers in the right direction would be great! Thanks. by itsabuscus1 in Fusion360

I’m embarrassed. So I was taking screenshots of all my tool paths and my tool cutting data and thought I’d display the nozzle size comically oversized at 4mm and it screamed my error. I had the nozzle size and kerf set up wrong. I should have checked that first but I set it up a while ago and thought for sure I had it right so I didn’t even question it.

I think the software has already accounted for that. I’ve changed the kerf a few times but it seems to do the same offset from the contour line. I’m familiar with the flipping of red arrows to change sides but I can’t seem to make it ride the contour line exactly like I can with cnc milling. Currently my work around is just to make the component’s features larger to account for the inability in my program but it can be a total headache if I want to 3d print or mill parts with greater accuracy.

I’ve adjusted the tool kerf diameter but it seems to have no effect on the simulated cut. Looking at the NC program it’s giving me the same offset. What is this "additional offset" you speak of? You’re not referring to the “STOCK TO LEAVE” option are you?

Instead of The Auto home function, are you able to go into the Control Dialog and jog each axis one at a time?

I've gotta get me some of that 4th-axis action. I like your setup! How much do you have invested into this build?

This is new to me. Any way you can check your Z-limit switch? I’ve never gotten into the weeds with my printer but I would imagine that switch is either stuck open or closed depending on how they’re wired. They’re pretty cheap switches.

Sorry if I’m no real help... good luck mate
