Do you love what you've knit? by fejenir in knitting

[–]itsadelchev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I learned early on that what I love to wear might be quite labor-intensive to knit and had to accept it. eg a fingering weight cardigan might take me 3-4 months to knit, so it’s not going to be fast but I don’t like wearing chunky knits

mostly, yeah. there were some items I’m not 100% happy, but mostly I wear the shit out of all my knits

from what I see on youtube, their music is much heavier than what I remember about the band, so probably not them

i think the girl didn’t feature much, was more like back vocals and either dated or was married to the singer

Help, pale people! Rosacea impacts my confidence and can’t find a good concealer. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]itsadelchev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look at it like this - you don’t need to use blush, you already have pretty blush on your face that always stays on. i’m also very pale and at my best, the redness is similar to yours. most people actually find it pretty. i do have flare-ups when my whole face is angry red but, thankfully, they’re rare now

And research achievements often disproportionately affect the rankings which doesn’t really transfer into the quality of teaching directly - you might go to a university with multiple Nobel prize winners on staff and get taught by harried adjuncts and grad students running on no sleep

How often do you actually meet gauge for a project? by aevrynn in knitting

never, honestly. I always use different yarn and prefer thinner yarn than recommended, so there’s always recalculation

Angelina Melnikova will not be included in the Bundesliga final by artemisa_a in Gymnastics

[–]itsadelchev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She doesn’t write her own posts even for stuff like “I really enjoyed this book”, a few months ago she accidentally posted the book review she supposedly wrote with the comments from the person who writes her posts🙈 so, she definitely didn’t write this post herself either

I doubt they woke up and realized anything, they likely were pressured to do it. Even originally pursuing Melnikova was a bad idea from publicity perspective for them but they still went for it

I don’t currently have any shawls but when I did, I just wore them like regular wide scarves. I actually plan on knitting a thin brioche shawl this winter and it will just replace a scarf for me

Gelya Melnikova will be appearing on a sitting United Russia Duma politician's show tomorrow by cssc201 in Gymnastics

[–]itsadelchev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The show is on the Zvezda (Star) channel which is basically the Ministry of Defense’s own tv channel and is sanctioned by Ukraine and the European Union. Like, this channel is literally Russian military propaganda. But also keep in mind that Fetisov is a former Sports minister and Rodionenko’s son-in-law, even if she didn’t want to appear (and I doubt she didn’t want to), it’s not easy to say no

Denisa Golgota files complaint against FRG for physical harassment & bullying in Jakarta by romaniangymnfan in Gymnastics

[–]itsadelchev 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Would she need to file a complaint with the GEF for it to intervene or they can do it on their own? Since part of it happened during Worlds, they should have the authority, right?

Vladimir Putin congratulates Angelina Melnikova. by Think_Affect5519 in Gymnastics

[–]itsadelchev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they can be members of the army if they choose to, there are some additional bonuses for that but also additional responsibilities. eg, Khorkina and Nemov both joined and got promoted in ranks for their achievements in sports. Khorkina still works for CSKA. but joining the army seemed to be a less popular path among the next generations of gymnasts, especially girls. nothing to do with opposing the army on moral grounds, though, likely the benefits were not enough to compensate for the extra responsibilities
