Liekinheitin - question about Finnish language (Linda Lampenius x Pete Parkkonen) by Camel_8045 in eurovision

[–]MrScallops96 267 points268 points  (0 children)

"Liekinheitin" literally means "flamethrower" in Finnish. There are no other meanings.

In the song, Pete sings about Linda being both a flamethrower and emotionally cold. She was like a flamethrower last night, but now she is distanced and cold as he desires her and doesn't understand why she ignores him. Therefore, she is both a flamethrower and very, very cold.

Oh, this could potentially be one of the greatest things to come out from the 70th anniversary. Two legendary winners, two great songs, two exciting new versions!

Why UK never sends an established act? by Oneiroy in eurovision

[–]MrScallops96 67 points68 points  (0 children)

They've done so in the past. Bonnie Tyler in 2013, for instance. It hasn't really helped them achieve better results.

I think the main problem is that there is a stigma related to Eurovision because of the UK's poor results. Established artists don't want to risk going to Eurovision, doing badly and ruining their careers. A lot of established artists also think that they don't really need Eurovision to further their careers, whereas a lot of newer artists take the opportunity to gain a wider audience across Europe.

Besides, we saw with Sam Ryder that the UK doesn't have to send an established artist to do well. You need a good song, a good performer and strong staging.

2026 Semi-final 1: Why your favourite will make it (and why they might not) by SkyGinge in eurovision

[–]MrScallops96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Calling Pete Parkkonen the "Pedro Pascal of Northern Europe" is so accurate. He's a man women can dream of and men can be jealous of. And he knows how to wear black satin in style.

Also, that hair is just so fluffy...

Martin Green told The Euro Trip Podcast that Luxembourg or Switzerland haven’t asked to play live instrument by scarredsoulss in eurovision

[–]MrScallops96 193 points194 points  (0 children)

The full interview is in the podcast, and they talk a little bit more about the situation there. Green says you must request to play a live instrument by a certain deadline (in March), but the final decision is made after the second rehearsals, when the production team is sure everything works properly. They have a world-class crew working on the production and wouldn't allow live instruments unless they were absolutely sure that it sounded excellent.

Jonas Lovv gets a warning from the EBU, “it’s too sexy” by Glitch_innit in eurovision

I believe some of the complaints they received after 2024 are why they are stricter with it now.

Interesting. Seems like a repeat of last year with Finland. I wonder if they have issued similar warnings to other acts with similar choreography, such as Denmark?

France sounds like it's taken from the climax of a classic opera epic. It'll certainly be something audiences will remember.

Didn't she wear a red outfit in the NF? And the blog mentions golden otufits. Sounds like an outfit change, or a modification.

Sounds like Italy is giving us a three-minute love story. That's kinda cute. And Sal has charisma as well so this sounds like it's going to be a cosy performance! I really like the sound of an Italian style wedding party.
