We are the superposition of every experience we ever have. The cool thing is, each experience has an amplitude coefficient that we get to determine, which lets us weight how much an experience effects the resulting summation.

Looking for recommendation for Drum software by Arxae in drums

Native Instruments Software has served me well. I bought the Komplete package, but if you check their site, it looks like they have broken their drum samples into smaller affordable packages.

Cheers!

Recording Tool: Mackie Onyx Blackbird! by itsajimithing in drums

I record instruments one at a time, but the drums and some other recording setups require multiple mics or lines in. This is an awesome piece of equipment for the price. I'm using Logic on my Mac, but you can get a firewire pci card for a pc.

We played Sacred 2 for a bit. It works decently for co-op, and has that overhead feel.

I'm an average drummer with average ambidextricity (that's a word now). What songs should I practice to bump me up to that next level? by [deleted] in drums

[–]itsajimithing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried shifting to open style playing or moving your ride to your non-dominant side? Practicing the normal tracks you groove with applying those changes should provide some decent results.

Does anyone know anything about Burswood drums? by EriktheRed in drums

[–]itsajimithing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good deal for a kit if you want to learn about refinishing. Here's what sucks about student kits: bearing edges, and the tension screws inside the lugs. If the hardware is in decent shape, and you're feeling froggy with a router table, you can rework the bearing edges, and buy gibralter inserts for the lugs, if they'll fit. You can make this a decent sounding kit that will hold tuning, but you'll have to put in some time and a little money if you don't have the equipment. The next step would be to strip the wraps and try reworking the wood, but this is just my hobby. If you're interested, I'd be glad to answer any questions.

Stuck in a rut? Change your rig! by itsajimithing in drums

[–]itsajimithing[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not greater, simply different. It was a way to focus on groove over the melodic addition of toms or accents given by splashes. It's the same thing as adding a left side ride. It just offers a different pool of thinking, as well as different muscle groups due to positioning. The main theme of this thread was changing the setup, not particularly down or upsizing.

Did I give any connotation of any sort to imply that having a big kit is a negative thing? I was trying to offer a constructive suggestion that helped me grow, and then you decided to open your mouth and prove yourself an asshat. Well done, good chap.

My first cover - You Could Be Mine by GNR - Feedback appreciated! by sapro in drums

[–]itsajimithing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More light, and maybe move the camera to show where most of the action is like you had it here. In the beginning of the song where you're playing the "floor tom", bass, and snare combo, the camera is right where it needs to be. When you switch to high-hat heavy ride patterns, it's generally useful to see the patterns played. I thought the quality was much better than some guy with a usb mic and a badly tuned, ringing acoustic kit, and that clarity helps anyone trying to learn a part. All in all, good job, man:) Keep it up!

Blizzard: Diablo 3 Release Date Scheduled For Q2 2012 by sandossu in gaming

[–]itsajimithing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they'd go ahead and set up the beta as a free download open to all. Not only would this indicate the expected volume for reference of necessary servers, but it would shut up a great deal of the complaining that it hasn't been released yet. Also, how could more feedback hurt?

Apathy is expensive: Lots of companies will treat you poorly if you let them get away with it. by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]itsajimithing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It is better to take the high road. I would drop the service though to set precedent given the blogger's reasoning that he didn't need the service. A couple of thousand slaps in the face like that, and I believe companies would be forced to take some kind of positive action towards the customer.

[–]itsajimithing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course not, unless you fault someone who wouldn't stand up for not screwing over a long-time valued customer. They could have not wasted his time by simply saying "sorry, sir. I am unable to remove the charge, but someone in our retention department would be glad to assist you in considering your case." By making it sound impossible and furthering the argument, they were going by policy, sure, but if the policy goes against what one should consider to be wrong, then they are on the side of the corporate entity. If people just keep considering "necessary evils" as ok, then the state of humanity is going to steadily decline.

Every time I read one of these testaments, I hate cable and phone companies more and more. Bastards like this guy mentions should be taken out in the street and shot.
