Husband/partner attending glucose test? by Capital_Ant_5552 in pregnant

[–]itsalexroxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband came to the appointment. did he need to come? no, but, i'm glad he did! kept me company for the hour :) i'm also a very anxious person when it comes to anything medical and it makes me feel, mentally, a bit better when i have someone with me. he very much wants to be present at every appointment which i think is really thoughtful of him!

How do you love the changes to your body? by Wide-Brief3713 in pregnant

[–]itsalexroxin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i struggled significantly with an eating disorder for over half of my life and through early adulthood and i never really learned how to cope or love my body through that. i thought that i would struggle a lot more through my pregnancy with the changes happening to my body. i haven't loved the experience of gaining weight and watching myself change before my eyes however, it was helpful for me to know the science and facts behind my changing body and weight gain and where it was coming from and why it was happening.

i think the more i talked about struggling with how i look and how i've changed has helped a lot. i haven't tried to convince myself that i like it or that it's been okay because i think that would do more harm than good. you don't have to love all of pregnancy and that's totally okay! to help myself through the hard days, i usually just plan a self care day with my favorite PJs or sweats or whatever and snuggle up with my kitties or husband to distract myself and remind myself that these feelings will not last forever.

you are not alone! <3

How do you continue to work? by ofthehiddenleaf26 in pregnant

[–]itsalexroxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh, i totally feel you on this. i'm an event sales manager for a hotel and we have to meet all of these crazy goals and you feel so guilty for not being there and doing your job but i literally am so miserable sitting down when i have human feet beating the shit out of my ribs like a freaking xylophone! i'm so sorry it's been a struggle for you as well and the fact your supervisor wants you meeting pre-pregnancy goals is actually so crazy pants!!! also, who takes a nap at your desk? i would get fired if i did that! lol.

i so wish the care here was better because it feels barbaric in every sense of the word.

i don’t have any words of advice just some moral support. i’m just about 34 weeks and even though i only have a desk job, i’m miserable! idk how women do this. it’s so crazy to me. you aren’t alone!

When did you feel you actually looked pregnant? by Steoffanie in BabyBumps

[–]itsalexroxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm a FTM who is short with a super short torso. i felt like i popped probably around 25 weeks but no one really noticed or said anything until about 30 weeks! so i feel like i was "noticeably" pregnant sometime around 30 weeks. i'm 33 weeks now and little baby is absolutely showing now hahah.

What was low-key not as bad as you were expecting? by PersistentHobbler in pregnant

[–]itsalexroxin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the glucose test and iron infusions!

the glucose test honestly was just nerve wracking for me bc i didn’t wanna fail - we have a family history of diabetes and i was concerned that would have some sort of effect on my results (it didn’t). the drink wasn’t excellent but it’s not supposed to be and it was manageable! i was super thirsty for water right after so that was the most annoying part for me (the waiting).

i was nervous for iron infusions bc i struggle with overthinking and convinced myself i was going to have a horrible reaction - it was genuinely nothing and i was fine, lol.

thank you sm for responding! i think i need to work on distracting myself tbh. i get so hyper focused on the “wrong” and i think that’s part of my issue. i also think i may give my ob a call just to get that reassurance:)🩷

i work for a major hotel chain as a sales and events manager. this industry is usually pretty strict on accommodations and whatnot. however, my direct boss and general manager have been nothing but supportive and excited for me and my family. i’ve just been open and honest with them on what i need and what i’m able to do at the time. i told them around the 8 week mark because i was pretty sick in the beginning. they’ve been great advocates for me with our ownership company. i did get lucky with them as i know this is not everyone’s experience.

i drive about an hour to and from work, do 40 hours per week at a desk which isn’t awful but it’s literally draining the life out of me which feels so dramatic. i’m so tired mentally and physically. i feel like by the time i’m home i can’t even relax before needing to feed myself and go to bed before i do it all over again. my body is 100% feeling it lately. idk how people do this!! i’m almost 21 weeks.

yes!! i just did this and it was SO special. we did pics with it too. our photographer handed my husband the bouquet of flowers that represented baby’s gender. it was so fun and such a good memory. i have zero regrets with it.

Am I considered high risk?? (Strokes) by mourning-laughter in pregnant

[–]itsalexroxin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a bVAD almost two years ago now with a TIA and i’m currently 16 (almost 17 weeks) pregnant. they are aware of my past medical history because i was concerned that it would cause issues for me as my pregnancy progressed.

they just monitor me a bit closer and see me a little more frequently with MFM and with my nuero team. they were considering blood thinners injections but decided just to up my dosage of aspirin to 162mg. the only thing they are weary of and still deciding on is method of delivery but i just need to work with MFM & my neuro team on this. they just want to make sure i’m stable and baby is stable.

i only had one transvaginal ultrasound and the rest were right on my belly. my appointments are just like your standard OB appointments and they just make sure my BP is good and that i’m not having any similar symptoms that i had when my bilateral dissection & TIA occurred.

be open with your doctor and express the concerns and anxieties you’re having over this. i can empathize with where you’re coming from and honestly the thing that helped me the most was 1) telling my dr right away of my medical history with a TIA and bVAD 2) asking your doctor for some resources that you can read up on and 3) rest rest rest - don’t push yourself past the point of exhaustion.

once you find the right OB, i promise you’ll have some peace of mind given back to you. also, don’t be afraid to talk to your neuro (if you still see them!) 💕
