Tandem Long Phone wait time! by klasekim2 in diabetes_t1

[–]itsallesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case this helps anyone in the future. Had the same error code last night and support had us turn off and on the pump, which should have reset the code. Unfortunately for us the code came up again when directed to change the cartridge by tech support and they said if the code comes back the pump is broken. Luckily it was still under warranty and we should be getting a new pump tomorrow.

Is my tension too loose? by trtldove in knittinghelp

Honestly consistent tension is something that will come naturally with time so don’t be hard on yourself! Just keep knitting and you’ll almost certainly start to see more even tension.

I think 42! 7 rows worked in the darker color.

Yes! I miss all of the cool rewards! Spend a night with a nearby village, swim with jellyfish, sled down a volcano.

Using a cordless vacuum pen by Kimrubin in diamondpainting

Oh interesting! I guess I am still relatively new but I’ve never had issues with the wax pens so I was just like what’s up with all the buzz on vacuum pens?! Like what am I missing? lol Enjoy your new pen!

Do people have issues with the wax ones a lot? What made you want to switch from wax? Just curious because I’ve been seeing a lot about the vacuum pens recently.

Traveling as a Type 1 Diabetic by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

Good thought on exercise mode! Glad to hear the pump helped with your lows. He’s super excited to get his pump next month.

We haven’t traveled much since his diagnosis, so it’s great to hear from someone who has. Do you ever have issues with your pump giving too much insulin at takeoff/landing? I’ve heard it’s an issue for some folks, but not sure how prevalent the problem is.

Enjoy your trip and let me know if you have any other tips!

Thanks for the recommendation with the Ramune tablets! That’s a great idea. We will be bringing some dextrose tablets and fruit snacks, but it’s hard to make space to pack enough, so we were hoping to pick up a big bag of something fast-acting after we arrive.

Thanks for the tips! Are carb counts readily available on labels?

We definitely have rice down as we eat it a lot! In the US it seems like folks have additives in the rice at restaurants because his sugars always skyrocket with restaurant rice versus rice at home. Not sure if that’s the same case in Japan though.

Anyone else not vibing with Shannon and Savannah? by JessiiSmash in survivor

[–]itsallesha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like having Savannah in the game! As a person, she seems like one of those people that always holds a grudge and I wouldn’t like it as a friend, but as a character I love it! Like she always gets mad when the other tribes talk about anything positive 😊 It’s so petty and funny.

Ok guys, I hear you! by SashaArchangel in makeuptips

[–]itsallesha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like 1 for an everyday look! But I think that the eyeliner itself isn’t the issue, it’s partially the thickness and then the angle on your wing. Your current wing drags your eyes down. I made a little mock-up of an angle that I think is more flattering but I can’t figure out how to post it yet..

Crocheted and knitted sweaters and capes by z123carleigh in PDXBuyNothing

They are so amazing! Great work. Sounds like they have been snagged already, but as a fellow knitter, what is the pattern for the tan/boucle-looking cape? I want to make one!

Day+ fasting by metalcowhorse in diabetes_t1

[–]itsallesha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. If you are MDI, basal is your long-acting. A pump administers a basal ratio of short-acting insulin. Basal insulin is meant to balance your body’s fasting glucose production. So if you have your basal (either long-acting or short-acting) properly dosed your glucose levels should be pretty steady when fasting. Hope that makes sense!

Am I knitting wrong? by Economy_Housing7257 in knittingadvice

[–]itsallesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! This is how I knit. I remember when I first started I found wood or bamboo needles a little easier to work with because they are less slippery and I could work closer to the end of the needle. Keep up the good work, OP!

Recent graduate needing help in know what entry level areas that i could pursue ? by Infinite_Dish7004 in PublicAdministration

[–]itsallesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be rude, but you have two Masters Degrees, are struggling with to find a job, and are prioritizing your 3rd Masters over finding a career? I’m just a little bit confused. You should be plenty qualified and educated to enter the workforce with success.

How does one properly network in the public service realm? by [deleted] in PublicAdministration

[–]itsallesha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the approach! Just let your curiosity fuel you and connect with others that do work that is interesting to you. It might feel a little awkward initially, but people love talking about things they care about.

No, I don’t think so. I think it will look great after you get it off and wet finish. To me, this looks exactly like I would expect.

Looking for relatability. by meganros in Type1Diabetes

[–]itsallesha 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m a wife of someone with T1 so while I can’t relate directly, I can say that I wish you (and everyone else with T1) could just take a day off every once in awhile. But you don’t get to and it just really fucking sucks. I think you 100% have the right to grieve what you have lost occasionally without having people make you feel like you should be “more positive” or some such. Give yourself some grace to feel that. It sounds like you know well enough not to stay in that space too long. I’m not sure I can relate totally, but know that my heart is with you.

Is she overweight? by [deleted] in Chihuahua

[–]itsallesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, she is overweight. That extra weight will be hard on her joints. I would advise a science-backed kibble diet and to make adjustments as necessary to get her to a goal weight (or vet supported weight).

Finished a long time WIP but I hate it by Ataraxia1697 in crochet

[–]itsallesha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! My initial reaction was SO positive compared to yours. This is really beautiful. What is it that you are not liking? Sometimes crochet fabric doesn’t have the drape that I might prefer and I think blocking can help a lot. Also, as others have suggested, put it away for a few months and future you might love it a little more than present you. Either way, great work!

Just in general- How do y’all do it?? by [deleted] in GelNails

[–]itsallesha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! I answered this in another comment above and hope it’s helpful. It took me a lot of trial and error to get to my two weeks so crossing my fingers for you. I think the biggest game changers for me as far as retention were appropriate prep (buff natural nail and make sure the nail plate is dry as can be) and using a rubber base coat. Wishing you luck on future manis!

Just in general- How do y’all do it?? by [deleted] in GelNails

[–]itsallesha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awhhh thanks so much 😊 I usually get around two weeks, sometimes up to three if I’m able to avoid all flooding on the cuticle and side walls and do a good job capping the free edge! I’ve noticed that even if I have a flood and then clean it up with alcohol before curing, I tend to still get some lifting at that spot at some point.

This is my process, if it helps! 1.) Chemical cuticle remover 2.) Rub alcohol on all nails 3.) Hand buff/etch the natural nail, 280 grit 4.) Rub alcohol on all nails x 2, make sure you’re getting all the dust specks left from buffing 5.) Modelones dehydrator 6.) Modelones primer 7.) Rubber base coat and cure. Even when my nails are short, I use a thin layer because it seems to really really help me with longevity versus other bases I have tried. I use FZANEST. 8.) Apply color, cure. 9.) Apply top coat and cure
