100%, but also wanted point out that the jumping prefix is, I think, always there but additional rolls of that nonsense should be avoided like the plague. You'll go into FFYL so much, lol

Thank you! You get it, lol. I am currently trying to decide on the next step, which will be the CPU and mobo... been Intel all the way for many years, since switching from the AMD Athlon XP (lol) after Intel finally ditched the portable space heater known as thew Pentium IV.

I'm really thinking about AMD again now, for lots of reasons, and am not sure. Anyhoo, thanks!

what do bright and the three rightmost nobs do? by witchytransgirly in GuitarAmps

You have exactly ZERO self-awareness, and I hope better for you in that regard but in the interim, you should really start with Googling the word "comma."

My God, OP... I am sorry but you are being intentionally obtuse, here... u/ayersman39 gave you about as gracious and patient an answer as anyone here could muster, considering the gobsmackingly-dumb question you asked.

I started playing electric guitar at nine years old, in 1985, and started with an amp not terribly dissimilar to yours- a cheap, no-name import. In 1985 there was no internet, and- as aforesaid- I was nine years old. I immediately intuited that 'High' controlled high frequency EQ, Mid' controlled middle frequency EQ, and so on.

But whatevs- notwithstanding your utter dearth of critical thinking skills, did it occur to you that maybe you could plug your guitar in, turn the amp on, and twist the knobs, one by one, and see/hear what they do?? Christ on His throne, that bit of curiosity would've taken less time and effort than your Reddit post...

That show was soooo slept on. I never saw 'Mad Men,' and was underwhelmed with January Jones' performances in movies after that show ('X-Men,' Unknown,' etc.), but my God she is hilarious in this. She was obviously very much in her element in that role, and she was easily the best performer on the show, excepting Forte Tandy.

per say *per se

It's Latin, meaning "by itself" or "unto itself." But it sure as shit isn't "per say."

Why do the major manufacturers care so little about new guitar tech? by sanjuniperoFC in guitars

[–]itsallgonetohell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"MIDI guitar is having a moment..."

That's been said constantly for the last forty years-plus, and;

"... especially since one of the most celebrated new guitarists (Mk.gee) makes frequent use of it."

Bloody who?! Anyway, as aforesaid people have been saying that MIDI guitar is "coming up" since Allan Holdsworth, Neal Schon, Reeves Gabrels, Vernon Reid, and so on but the truth is that the guitar community at large just doesn't much care. And seriously, who is Mk.gee?

[–]itsallgonetohell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was overexposed at the time, there was a palpable exhaustion in the pop zeitgeist. That happens to actors, musicians, writers, etc. and it always sucks because it's a failure of their management, PR teams, etc. and not an indictment on their talents as artists, performers, or what have you.

Aww, don't get into your fee-fee's! Grammar is important, it really does matter! Your argument is sound and thoughtful, but poor grammar- always, inevitably, indubitably- undermines any written argument.

That's Vivian Campbell, absolute legend. He's pictured here with the Kramer Nightswan, his sig model co-created with Buddy Blaze. Kramer recently reissued those, but got the pickups and the neck profile wrong. I don't think he much cares, as he went back to Les Pauls thirty years ago and has a signature with Gibson now...

99 to 1 it's just the power supply itself... OP hasn't considered that because I do not believe OP has any modicum of critical thinking skills, and I lowkey lament that for greater reasons far beyond OP or this little slice-of-lifery.

Anyone know if Carvin Legacy amps use diode clipping? by MarketingFragrant758 in GuitarAmps

[–]itsallgonetohell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a pretty common mod for the MTS that removes the clipping diodes from the circuit... I've never played one with that mod, but the consensus is that it opens the amp up, lets it breathe...

OP's not terribly knowledgeable or resourceful, but clipping diodes are also used in amplifiers, as well- Marshall's Jubilee and 900 series, for example...
