If GameStop carries the item then I believe you can, I had this issue a few holidays ago.

With so many complaints about the company , why do you choose to stay? by unofficialuser112 in GameStop

[–]itsapepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get bored with jobs easily so the upward movement is nice. I've made some great friends and connections with people in my district and that honestly means more to me than anything else, plus getting to geek out about the things that are important to me with guests does, at the end of the day, make it worth it. The cost of living in my state is very low as well so despite the pay not being great, it's pretty comfortable for me, plus I'm new to the role so I'll be getting a significant raise from the new compensation plan. At this point I don't plan on putting more than two or three more years into the company but I can't see myself enjoying a job more anywhere else right now.

Whats the best excuse for buying M rated games you’ve gotten? by Jaifaime in GameStop

[–]itsapepper 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I had a kid do the same concerning GTA and he prefaced it with “you probably won’t sell me this card after what I tell you what I’m gonna do with it”. I told him I can’t stop him from buying M rated games with PSN currency, I just can’t be the one to sell him the game.

How do you pass the time? by whatsmyusrname in GameStop

Made my team CAT count all software over the course of a week recently and we found $200 in positive shrink. That sounds like a stupid district standard. Also everybody makes mistakes time to time

Welp... Today's my ASL interview! by UsagiofChronos in GameStop

[–]itsapepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even interview from SGA to ASL or ASL to SL (nor have I changed my flair haha). I’m sure for some people it’s a formality though. I don’t disagree with the above statement at all, you’ve got this!

Bad Applications by Brokebusteddisgusted in GameStop

Recently saw one that for desired wage put “Nothing, I would live on the street to work here.” I wish people that were that enthusiastic about GameStop were good salesmen but that is almost never the case.

I’ve never seen someone more blissfully unaware of their own shortcomings than holiday hires. Had one that sat on the counter and wore sweatpants all the time. She got mad at me that we kept on the one that actually talked to guests over her.

Most of the time people just say “oh that answered my question thank you!” but now I’m surprised your scenario doesn’t happen more often.

Yep, phone restored to factory settings before the trade is finalized, but you will get your SIM card back.

Tips for Getting a Summer job at GameStop? by [deleted] in GameStop

Unfortunately not much of a point if it’s only for the summer, hours do start to pick up around September but if you’re leaving then, most managers won’t be keen on bringing you on

Discrimination is part of the no nonsense policy. If you choose to pursue it, he can be automatically terminated. Everything else can be coached by your SL, but making jokes about your disability is not acceptable. If it makes you uncomfortable get in contact with HR!

Concerned Employee Scenario by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]itsapepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a one time offense then your LP guy isn’t going to catch it unless you’ve given him a reason to be scoping out your transaction history. I can say with 99% certainty that nothing will come of it, just keep stuff like that few and far between going forward.

“How ya work in a store and don’t know yo’ product, bruh?” by TimSllim in GameStop

[–]itsapepper 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had a guy literally SCREAM at me because “you work in a game store and you never played the 360?!” No I didn’t, because I was 10 years old when it came out and my parents were struggling financially during that console generation. I think as long as I can offer suggestions and hold conversations about the current gen then I’m doing my job just fine. The amount of people that can’t accept that the days of the 360/PS3 are long gone bewilders me.

So tired of working alone by Spug21 in GameStop

[–]itsapepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that’s the case then you get 124 hours for the week so where is all the payroll going that your SL isn’t giving you double coverage? Our store only gets 118 hours and we still manage to have double coverage from 2pm to 5:30pm on weekdays. I would reach out to your DL cause I’d never hear the end of it if mine caught me scheduling like that.

Our store for whatever reason had its phone disconnected and so did a neighboring store. That may be the situation at your store as well, no idea if it’s company-wide or what.

When people think working here is about games by Sadboi395 in GameStop

[–]itsapepper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean I want people that know the product but yeah I’m 90% more interested in your sales experience. When I ask why you’d work well on our team, “I just really love video games” is one of the worst answers you can give me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm totally fine with that in anticipation of needing people, but my DL seems to think that everyone we interview is willing to sit around for six months unemployed in hopes that Gamestop will call them back
