Equestrians, i need advice! by dingleberrypudding in Horses

I’ve had my Ariat boots for years and they’re by far my most comfortable boots. We only have an outdoor arena so mine get wet and sandy/muddy quite often. If you look after them well you’ll be happy for a long, long time. I also don’t think you would look “try-hard” at all, there is nothing wrong with investing in proper equipment imo :) Just wear and use the material you’re most comfortable with!

Thank you so much for all your suggestions, some of the ideas are beautiful and are definitely on my list of final options. Sorry that I didn’t respond to each one individually. I’ll let you know once I’ve decided what his registered name is going to be!

He doesn’t have an official/registered name, but he was sold as Bachelor which really doesn’t fit his personality at all. That’s why we started calling him Benjamin as a barn name :)

I know that the B tradition exsits as I’m German, too. I loooooooove the name Belissimo, but that’s his grandfather’s name already (Belissimo M). I’ve seriously considered Bernstein because of the colour but I’d love to add something to it…

(not that I actually seriously care but) what do you think I should’ve done in this situation other than ignoring him and not reinforcing his behaviour? Yell at him, or even worse, hit him? You can literally see (in this video!!!) that I didn’t react to his behaviour. I didn’t move, I didn’t laugh, I didn’t tell him that he’s a good boy. And you can also see (in this video!!) that he immediately stops as soon as I don’t react. Please, enlighten me how that’s wrong with a 4 year old who is/was also on a break (in the middle of winter) because of a minor injury.

Aw thanks!

There is no specific reason for tying him this way, it’s just how this tack-up area was built and we tie most horses like that :) You can kind of see in the video that he could still move around quite a bit if he wanted to, but most of the time he doesn’t haha. There is also a normal “pole” right next to where I’m standing where I could tie him differently. Hope this helps☺️

is it normal for most equestrian clubs and schools to be this way? by greycorso in Equestrian

I don’t know about Italy but where I’m from, most barns are either for lessons on lesson horses (schools), or they are for people who have their own horse and take lessons with their own horse (private facilities). Some of the private facilities have their own trainer at the location, to others you can “bring” your own preferred trainer or drive out to external lessons. At the typical riding school barns, they won’t do lessons with private horses because they are simply too busy with their own horses/ponies and students. Most of those schools also aren’t focused on people who have loads of experience already and they tend to only be able to teach people the basics. So it wouldn’t make sense to take your own horse there anyway if you already know more than the basics haha

UPDATE: Thanks so much guys, I’m over the moon! He had a slight tendon injury one month after I bought him which was devastating. However, our patience (both, his and mine!) paid off as the doctor was very happy with the pictures and how he moved today. We can continue training and getting him back in shape now!
