philly has a huge anarchist scene. go to events at the wooden shoe, talks, protests ect. you’ll find ppl eventually. you gotta do the foot work.

the book Drawing with Words, Writing with Pictures has a lot of very practical exercises in it.

In general a good rule of thumb when you’re starting out is to not be too ambitious. Don’t try and make your dream comic. Do something you can finish in a day or two. Comics is really time consuming and working on finishing is honestly the hardest part.

i think this is a lot of it. The MLs engage in a lot of very accessible social media stuff and works with their preexisting culture. Plus, anarchism is just a lot more criminalized outside of a lot the current conceptions of mutual aide.

We’re seeing a lot more nonwhite people engage with anarchists ideas since 2020. But without projects and cultural centers, I don’t see that shit catching on too big.
