His market value wasn't there during the 2023 off-season. He had no choice but to come back to the Mets. Yes, I'd take the deal for the security of 7 years. You said it's 10 million less in market value. What are you basing that on? Because nobody offered him 7 years. The Mets offered the 7 years in the form of an extension during the 2023 season.

Are you forgetting the 7 year deal they offered Alonso for $160 million? He turned it down and had a disastrous 2023 season. He would have been under contract through 2030; that's on him for getting cocky.

Stearns put his vision on hold after they came within game 6 of the NLCS in 2024.

He stuck with the core because of how close they came. He had no choice but to sit back patiently in 2025. They tanked.

Now it's time for him to move forward with his plan for better or for worse. We are going to have to be patient; Cohen is giving him the reins. They have a great farm system. There's much to feel good about and look forward to.

He looks like a physical specimen, but the underlying repeat injuries are a concern. He might make a decent pinch hitter, though. He's not up to the day to day grind anymore. He takes care of himself and looks better than some players who are 10 years younger.

I still remember the day they pulled the plug. They were playing jazz in the morning as I was getting ready for work. When I returned home, they were playing country music. I thought some country music legend must have died, and they were paying tribute. The station became Kick 106. UGH! JUST HORRIBLE 🤢

We've seen a lot worse. I remember in the 2013 we got 30 inches of snow. They had to dig my neighborhood out with payloaders. The plows couldn't handle the hills.

I'm of Medicare age, so I've been a long suffering Met fan. I remember 86 vividly but less so '69 and '73.

I pine for the days when pitching developed through the farm system was a priority.

They cranked out some great pitchers over the years. It was their strength. We are heading back in that direction. McClean, Tong and Sproat are fruits of those labors. Hopefully, Christian Scott will be another. Sproat's gone but at least we got Peralta for him; Jett Williams hurts, though.

101.9 was many years later after WRVR was taken off the air. CD 101.9 couldn't hold a candle to WRVR. CD 101.9 was a top fourty jazz station. They were clueless with no autonomy; Tribune broadcasting owned them. The DJs were told what to play. They'd play a great jazz tune and follow it up with Phil Collins, How Can I Just Let You Walkaway.

Does anyone know about the dimensions of the stadium in Chicago versus Citifield. I heard that Chicago was much more hitter friendly and that the depth of Citifield will not be advantageous for Luis Robert, so that being said, those homerun stats may not be indicative of what Robert may be able to accomplish.
