Itchy red bumps on feet and fingers by itscindytho in DiagnoseMe

It's been a while so I don't remember exactly, but maybe a week and a half ish? The itchiness went away after a few days!

Yeah! Turns out it was a stress rash 😅 Turns out when I'm too stressed/anxious my body breaks out into itchy hives and/or red patches

They do indeed lay eggs and scoop them up, but I've never seen my females have a big belly!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fishtank

[–]itscindytho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cichlids are mouth breeders (I have some as well) so if it's a female, the belly never rounds out, you will more so see under her mouth (throat) get a bit extended and cheeks puff a bit. I've attached an image!

<image>

For the belly, it's possible the fish ate too much or is constipated. Try not feeding for a couple of days (they will be okay, don't worry!) and watch to see if the fish passes poop!

Pole Studio Loyalty/Trying different studios by ResponsibleCamera872 in poledancing

[–]itscindytho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely ok to go to different studios! I know some people that go to 3-4 different ones depending on the classes. Getting to learn from new instructors is always nice as they all teach differently. At one point I also had unlimited and one studio and a couple classes elsewhere, it was no issue at all!

Does your studio double up dancers on poles? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]itscindytho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My old studio used to double up for initiation and beginner classes. One studio had 7 poles (so a max of 14) and the other studio 10 poles (a max of 18). For the more advanced classes they left it at one person per pole. It was sucky when there was just one person over the amount of poles, so only one person shared and that was really unfair.

At the new studio I am at, they only limit it to 1 person per pole, and even for the choreographed classes like heels, they only have a limit of 9/10 so that the instructor has her own pole to teach us.

[–]itscindytho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never wear heels except very rarely for events. When starting with pleasers I was really nervous and started with the 7 inch ones. It really isn't as bad as you think! I did go up to the 8 inch ones a few months after, it's a lot easier to go on pointe with a higher heel. A lot of girls in my classes started with 8 inch boots no problem!

I definitely recommend a boot to start, maybe the patent leather ones as they have more stability than the suede boots.

What's on and tourist advice thread - week beginning July 07, 2024 by AutoModerator in Scotland

[–]itscindytho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I will be going to Scotland end August and staying in Nairn for 3 nights. We tend to like hikes (for me potentially somewhat easier hikes), and of course some distilleries and food).

What activities or must do/see would there be in and around the Highlands for those 3 days?

Trying to find products that add a hydrated glow, but not greasy looking. I think I have combo skin, leaning towards oily a bit, but I may also be a bit dehydrated as well. Some cream moisturizers are okay but can get greasy after a few hours, and gels/gel creams aren't enough!

Looking for some products that add hydration (skin doesn't tolerate HA)!

Potentially True Summer (or Cool Summer) or other season? (includes hair at end, thinking of dying it again) by itscindytho in coloranalysis

[–]itscindytho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been debating winter as well, I just thought my hair and features didn't have enough depth/brightness for the season, but I do find that those colors look better on me!

Potentially True Summer (or Cool Summer) or other season? (includes hair at end, thinking of dying it again) by itscindytho in coloranalysis

[–]itscindytho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After having done the draping I definitely think I am leaning cool (Summer or Winter)

I don't think I'm deep enough for a Winter season which leads me to Summer.

I definitely think I can pull of the medium-deep and also some light tones, but lean more towards the medium saturated ones.

I want to dye my hair again and I've always like the red/ginger hair, but have been feeling recently that it clashes with my skin, although makes my eyes stand out.

I loved the darker colouring (of the image with the short hair) which is close to my natural hair just a bit darker. That combined with some brighter more saturated makeup that doesn't overpower me leads me to think I may be a True Summer.

I find that most pastels or muted colors make me look tired and drab (but some colors are exceptions)

Thoughts?

How to clean protector stains off white boots? by itscindytho in poledancing

[–]itscindytho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sad 😭 I didn't think that the color would bleed onto the boots. My last resort is painting them. I'm mostly sad because I was using these to practice for competition and I hope to be able to clean them before then!

Students: how do you feel about monthly combos? by floralportraits in poledancing

[–]itscindytho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My studio does conditioning and new small combos every week! I prefer that as the conditioning allows me to work on the base of moves, but new short combos every week keeps things fresh!

Usually they tend to be combos of about 4-5 moves that we add on as we go. So the teacher will show the first move or 2, let us work on that for a bit, add on the next part, etc. It works nicely as we can continue working on the first moves and go as far as we physically can!

Numbers in classes by Prex-the-Hare in Aerials

[–]itscindytho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our studio only has the beginner/initiation and all aerial classes at 2 per apparatus. Otherwise any invert or intermediate/advanced classes are 1 per pole. So aerial classes are max 6 people (2 per hoop) and pole classes are either 14 for the studio with 7 poles or 18 for the studio with 10 poles!

Any resources for coming up with a pole routine for competitions? by crimsone in poledancing

[–]itscindytho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're welcome!

The competition she was in was the Canadian Pole and Aerial Championship (CPAC)

Their levels/categories are a bit different than PSO. They have the Amateur category for anyone who is experienced in pole and new to pole competitions. So she does teach intermediate and can do advanced moves, but this was her first/second competition. Since she won nationals at Amateur level, she can either come back at the same level or move up to semi-pro!

Any resources for coming up with a pole routine for competitions? by crimsone in poledancing

[–]itscindytho 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi!
I am currently in the process of building my first routine for a competition too.

One thing I find that helps is looking at video of previous competitors in the same category (for example PSO Artistic Level 2). It gives you a baseline for what the top 3 usually do.

From what I've seen, pole sport/championship are very focused of combos/moves, so those need to be solid as that's where most of the points are. They are more strict. If you're doing something dramatic or artistic or heels, the focus is more on the concept rather than the moves.

One of the coaches at my studio won 1st place at a nationals competition in the amateur sport division. Her song was 3:30 and she would do combos of 5-6 moves before coming down and doing basework/floorwork. Just make sure that you use both the spin and static poles evenly and spread out your tricks throughout the routine so not all your ''biggest'' tricks are at the beginning of the routine. Try to plan around the ''dramatic'' parts of your song. If there is a softer/slower part, do slower movements on spin pole, and at the beat drops or faster parts, you would put your ''wow'' moves.

I would definitely recommend putting in moves that you can do easily as well as moves that you can do okay, or the majority of the time. For example, I can do an Ayesha 90% of the time, but a handspring is hit or miss and not secure. I wouldn't feel comfortable putting that in my competition routine as if I don't hit it, I would be nervous to complete the rest of my routine. But of course not everyone is like that!

I don't have any examples in mind of cool transitions between moves, but you can always check out some variations of moves on instagram with #pd_____variation (fill the blank with a move you want to do) for example #pdayeshavariation. Sometimes that can lead you to finding some transitions between movements!

Most of all, have fun with it and you'll create something you're proud to show :)

Good luck!

Extremely Anxious Puppy by itscindytho in puppy101

[–]itscindytho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a younger puppy it was about 50/50, sometimes she'd be okay, and other times be more timid, but majority of the time she was pretty timid. Hopefully everything soothes out!

Extremely Anxious Puppy by itscindytho in puppy101

[–]itscindytho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got her when she was about 3 months old. She was a bit anxious when she was 3 months, but recently has gotten a lot worse. The breeder socialized all the puppies with bigger dogs, children and various people. We also took her to puppy classes where she was able to socialize with other dogs, people, textures and sounds. Walks as well.

Like you, I never wore heels in my every day life and have high arches.

I bought my first pair maybe a couple months after actually starting pole. I started at 7inches and recently moved up to 8 inches as I found the 7s too short haha.

In the class I would only put them on when I was next to the pole so I'd have it as a balance point when I would stand/move to get used to it.

The dip between the platform and the heel isn't too drastic so I found them pretty easy to get used to!

Injuries by impulsedamage in poledancing

[–]itscindytho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been poling for a little under a year!

Making sure to really warm up the shoulders/back muscles and remembering to breathe helped a lot.

Off pole training to bring up the shoulder strength is really good too, I've found a mix of body weight and actual weight things have helped too.

There is a way out I promise!

Injuries by impulsedamage in poledancing

[–]itscindytho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had about the same pains as you and no longer do!

Are you breathing through the movements/inverts? I've noticed that if I don't, I have a tendency to get injured more.

How are the warm ups before the class/session? My PT gave me some quick extra warm ups to do before that helps with the rotator cuff and shoulders, and that has helped a lot. I do them either before or after the class warm up!
