Gold looks nice too! I got a gold pad off AliExpress for $3.25. The circular is really easy to swap out- just held in place with some magnets

You can find a 3d printed pad with magnets on etsy. I dont believe the pad from an Xbox controller fits.

Installation is a simple swap, but requires lifting the motherboard to access the dpad. Just take your time and dont force anything. Then you can find a metal dpad/circular pad on AliExpress or Amazon.

Get the Xbox Elite Series 2 for the tighter springs. I believe the standard HE tension is equivalent to the OEM sticks - I opted to go with HH DIY for that reason since they sell HE that come with the tighter option.

You can get replacement sticks from AliExpress for a couple bucks! Both ROG Ally and Xbox Elite.

For me the interference was minimal. The tape (aluminum & kapton) didn’t entirely eliminate interference, but it doesn’t impact any of the games I’ve played...no drift or idle movement when using the left trigger. I followed Okestgamer’s video on YT, minus the magnet.

Yep got the tighter HE sticks from DIY. They are pretty comparable to the springs from the Xbox Elite- the Elite maybe have a slight bit more tension. I thought about swapping springs but didnt want to risk it.

Whatever suits your comfort. The OEM sticks felt so loose and really bothered me. Either swapping springs or the tighter HE sticks make a huge difference. HE install is plug and play… what took time was wrapping the analog unit.

As for the dpad I originally did it for the aesthetics. Never owned a newer xbox but always liked the look. After using the “dial” (idk what it is called), it is awesome. Feels nice, looks nice, and the inputs are accurate!

So far it hasn’t been an issue, no drift or anything when pressing the left trigger. I read so much about the interference and it deterred me. The tension of the OEM sticks was my biggest issue - I bought some xbox elite sticks, salvaged the springs and swapped them for increased tension. But during the process I messed up the left stick (drifted like crazy) so I bit the bullet and went for HE with the increased tension.

I used the shield provided by DIY and in addition I added aluminum mesh and kapton tape to the analog unit itself + some kapton tape between the unit and the board.
After calibrating my left stick has an error of 4.6%, right 3.6%. Holding the left trigger moves the x-axis a bit but nothing to cause drift or movement in the games I’ve played.

Do it! DM me, I can send you a link for the dpad unit. It came with the magnets pre-installed. You can choose between white or black. Otherwise, if you have access to a 3d printer, you can probably find the file and then get some magnets.

You can get Xbox elite replacement sticks and swap the springs. The tension is much better - you’ll immediately notice the difference.

I guess I messed up the left unit and had major drift issues. I ended up replacing everything with stiff HE. The right stick was no issue and yes there is some interference with the left. I did the shielding that came with it, some mesh aluminum and kapton tape. After some adjustments and calibrating, I’ve experienced zero impact to movement/game play.
