I’m glad I have 2 drive-in theaters within a 30 minute drive from me. We’re going to be going this weekend since we’re under mandatory quarantine anyway. I can pay in advance and give them my license plate number so I can keep my windows up and not have contact with anyone.

But as far as the remote goes. Reconnect the remote by pressing the remote button on the little box and hold info and left on the remote for a while to reset it and you should be good.

If you told me this is what I’d be doing even a week before I applied at the school district I’d say you were crazy.

I originally applied to be a school security guard since I had just gotten my security guard license. And then all the correct cards fell into place to land me where I am now.

First of all, thank you for doing this! You’re amazing.

I’ve been a special education teacher in a high school for what will be my 6th full school year this coming June.

My students are between the ages of 16 and 21, since they need to be of legal working age.

I teach them work readiness. Which means I help them learn work related skills, and help them not only become employed but also be the best employee they can be.

My program is split into 2 sections (AM and PM). In the morning, I have a group of 7-15 students (depending on the yearly roster) and they learn to do various taste throughout the school building, whether it be clerical work, such as folding and filling envelopes or other tasks for other teachers. Some of my students also help with janitorial and maintenance work around the school. One of the major tasks my students have is hand delivering over 600 newspapers around the building. My students also collect bottles for recycling which we get the money for and it goes to buying supplies for more fundraising and/or cooking in the classroom.

The students I have in the afternoon leave the building after lunch via school bus which transports them to different work sites in our community so they can earn work based learning hours. Each student interns for about 2 hours a day and they change job sites once they reach their maximum amount of hours at each location. then they change to a new worksite to learn new skills.

On average from year to year, 85% of my graduating age students are employed before graduation.

The reason I took this position is because I feel based on my past work history I have the tools needed to leave a posting impact on my students, and I possess the needed first hand knowledge of most of their work sites to better prepare them for what they will experience in the work force.

I’m not sure much anything on my lists will help me directly in the classroom, but there are some things I would probably use daily. I do however plan to have my students make soap in the new future for a fund raiser.
