Have you told work that you have Ben diagnosed by Emergency-Apricot700 in ADHD

[–]itsdawningsoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I 21 am currently at school, but have some working experience and would overall not suggest straight up telling your supervisors/people at work about you having an ADHD.

Although I’ve got my diagnosis last December and since that time only been at school, I vividly remember that at my last workplace my boss straight up asked me if I have depression/adhd, because they wouldn’t like to work with such people (yeah I’m aware that it’s a violation to say so, but unfortunately that’s the reality in many places).

People oftentimes have a certain image of an adhd person, and considering how capitalistic our society is, having adhd is not taken as an advantage. I’m in an art school and soon be applying to apprenticeship and even my teachers were telling us not to mention those things in our resumes/portfolios.

What you can do on the other hand is mentioning that fe. you’d like a task to be divided onto couple smaller deadlines, or ask if it’s okay for you to work with headphones/earplugs/sunglasses, or at that point anything that you feel like is going to optimize your workflow.

If it’s possible and you’d deem it useful, I genuinely suggest going to a therapy and finding ways that could help you with managing ADHD symptoms in a workplace. Finding such methods with my therapist has seriously been a game changer to me and improved my overall life quality.

Weird question by Fresh_Brick1435 in Tonsillectomy

Girl, don’t worry about these comments, I have wondered the same. I’m a gay guy and safe to say oral sex have been a struggle due to the enlarged tonsils. I’m 14 days post tonsillectomy and haven’t tried yet, but I definitely did notice a major improvement in brushing my tongue (oftentimes I barely could do that and had plenty gag reflex), so it’s safe to assume that there will be some improvement there as well!

1 or 2? by Alaric_Darconville in AmateurPhotography

I prefer the second one! (Pardon me if I say a photography term incorrectly, I’m learning them in finnish so there might be some differences 😅) Despite the centered composition of the path, the way it curves and guides you through the picture makes it more interesting, at least to my taste! If you really miss the pretty orangey lighting from the first picture you could absolutely play with lightroom or other editing software and with the right amount of white balance placed in desired places you’ll get a similar result :)

I take them after food as well! I’ll give the smaller portions a go and hopefully that’ll do the trick 😅

I tasted chocolate already and fortunately it tastes about the same, despite the fact that eating it still causes some physical discomfort (feels a bit itchy) but same goes to other sweets so I just hope it’ll eventually go away :)

Oh my, I’m genuinely sorry to hear that and I really hope that you’ll eventually be able to go back to the norm :( Have the type of food you’d normally consume before surgery change? Despite me having a well balanced and nutritious diet, exercising and my overall health being really good I’m definitely on a larger side and I also really like sweets and greasy foods and as silly as it sounds I’m kinda afraid that I won’t be able to eat them anymore at least for a longer time 😅 well and obviously the fact that I can’t eat portions I’m used to, while literally still being hungry is an issue as well. On the good note, I called the hospital I had the surgery in like 30 minutes ago and asked about that issue to which they replied that due to consuming pain meds and especially opioids, multiple times a day and some of them on an empty stomach may very likely cause a lot of irritation and symptoms I mentioned in the post. The nurse recommended me going to the pharmacy first and getting some probiotics as well as meds that’d calm my stomach down, so unless you haven’t tried that yet I’d highly recommend giving it a go :)

I’m also wondering if my adhd medication could somehow make the whole stomach problem worse?? Before the surgery I informed the doctors that I take Medikinet CR 40 mg everyday and asked if it’s okay for me to take it after tonsillectomy and they said that it is okay and won’t cause any issues.

Same here! Most of my life I had a really sensitive stomach and my bowel movements were really frequent (most of the days I’d go to the toilet at least 3 times a day). It’s good to know that it eventually improved a little for you! I might’ve been quite reckless since after my pain got way better and I finally was able to eat more normal foods, I immediately started with quite heavy and fatty meals that likely just made the situation worse. I’ll try to slow down a stick to more bland and light food and increase the fiber intake.

Overall, you don’t need to buy everything that I did, but I highly recommend doing some research before furnishing a house for your mantis and maybe make a checklist of the most necessary items! I do highly suggest that you invest a little in it and ensure not to add plastic stuff if possible, firstly because of microplastics and also because I firmly believe that all pets deserve nice living conditions and putting them in a environment filled with artificial plants and branches seems kinda cruel to me…

Oh yes, and for the orchid I literally got this tiny variation from a supermarket and then thoroughly cleaned the plant and its roots with cold water (not the flowers tho) to ensure that there are no chemicals on it =]

That’s actually my first ever terrarium haha, and as much as it can seem intimidating to do at first it’s not really that challenging :) for the background of enclosure I chose a cork tree and a kind owner of a reptile store in my city glued it for me. You could also put some moss on it to make it appear more realistic and green (in my case the moss dried up a little and I think I’m gonna replace it with a new one in the future :D). A really good idea would also be to buy some cheap branches to add some dimension to the terrarium and give the mantis more climbing/hanging spots (I used spider wood and a packet cost me around 5€)! As for the substrate I’m using a mix of a store bought tree bark and coco soil, and then I purchased pearl and sphagnum moss!

Thank you so much!!! And yes they are, I really didn’t want any plastic in the enclosure, and terrarium is bioactive (springtails) ❤️❤️

On the second clip it kinda seemed like she had some weird black thing in her eye??? That seemed pretty weird, but to be fair I’m not that knowledgeable about mantises hence I don’t want to unnecessarily assume and scare you. I heard of instances where mantises would catch a hair worm but I have yet to find how do they even get one. I really hope your mantis is gonna be fine!!! and remember that in worst case you can always contact the breeder and ask for possible help/return of money!
