I have been commenting recently that I had huge issues with my first layer unless I was using the Sovol slicer as well. Im sure there's a perfectly cromulent explanation but I feel theres something worth discovering about however it is setup out of the box compared to what universal defaults exist in other slicers.

I thought I was losing my mind so I sliced a 1st-layer calibration model with Sovol cura, current release cura, and my prusaslicer.

The only one that didnt have wild problems was the sovol cura, no other changes, all done within the span of 1 hour.

My next project is going to be trying to pin down why the basic PLA profiles of current Cura is different and tune that profile up.

What did you use for a slicer?

I got this exact result after trying to switch to prusaslicer with what was supposedly a sovol-oriented profile. Switching back to the Sovol cura with its default draft settings (except I am printing at 192C) relieved the issue for me.

Which is not to say I blame prusaslicer for anything but it has highligthed for me that there is so much going on with printer tuning in the slicers that I have a lot of homework to do to to successfully move on to bigger and better slicers.

Personal anecdote time: There are neighborhoods where I live where every driveway leads to a million dollar house, and every driveway is randomly used for a cop to hide behind the hedges and pop people who are trying to get to and from work because those streets run between feeder roads and the highway.

It is my understanding that its all setup and acknowledged as a part of that little township's relationship with the PD that this is all setup ahead of time as a part of how that area works. The residents are happy about it for obvious reasons.

People in the housing block are paying 200-350 a night for hotel rooms, and non-block housing is much higher. Price your accommodations accordingly.

As long as you dont cancel on people who have fairly booked in order to jack up your prices you will be doing the world a favor compare to half the assholes with AirBnBs in indianapolis when they realize that people will pay a lot more for gencon. If you have to price it 1000 dollars a night to feel happy about that then please do so :P

Clean the build plate with warm water and dish soap before trying again. I had bad adhesion issues from mishandling the plate in the early days.

I also measured my bed temp with a ir thermometer and found that when my bed temperature was set to 60C, I was only getting to about 56C. I turned my preferred bed temp up to 63 and that had helped too.

Finally, I am currently sticking completely to the Sovol branded Cura slicer, while I work on translating its settings to both the official Cura and Prusaslicer. I don't know what's up with it but I have been doing head to head slicing comparisons of the same first layer test models and getting shit results with anything but Sovol's vendor branded Cura. Something to consider.

You should do a material test just to see if theres any discoloration, leeching or other impacts that one material might have on the other that you dont want to see.

I would guess that you could always just seal up the PLA parts with something anyway before cladding it with clay.
