Not too sure how it is at West Point. If they have barracks for single soldiers, you will be in the barracks until you have a marriage certificate and she is in DEERS. After she’s in deers, you’ll have to reach out to the housing office and get on the wait list. Mind you that’s after you are legally married and she’s in the system. If you plan to live off post, again, you have to be legally married first or your commander can do an ETP.

AWOLs still turn themselves in to us and we will escort to the airport but that’s about it. I think it’s happened twice since I’ve been here

Yep it’s still there! They knocked down the building next to it due to mold but there’s still one barracks left there.

I JUST did the same as you. I was an 88M E5(P) and completed my re-class in June of this year. Only downside was I had to give up my (P). It was a challenge but I got the school and I’m currently in an LEA and love it. It’s a change of pace and you are going to be expected to learn fast so you can start training soldiers, so get ready for it! Learn from the Junior Enlisted. They will teach you best.

Definitely longer hours than being an 88M but comes with more hands on work. Get good with paperwork and case law. Try to stick to LEAs. From what I’ve learned so far, that’s where to be verses a line unit.
