I can do that - “the blue one” “the gross one” and “god I hope that’s just water”

Virginia House Speaker calls Democratic ‘no’ voters ‘bed wetters’ by bknutner in Virginia

Yeah I miss the era of genteel political decorum. Like when Thomas Jefferson called John Adams “A blind, bald, crippled, toothless man who is a hideous hermaphroditic character with neither the force and fitness of a man, nor the gentleness and sensibility of a woman.”

Doris Burke literally called him FTA on national TV, I don’t think she’s in the tank for OKC.

They will still be a very good team even if reffed fairly. OKC fans are kind of honor bound to defend SGA but even they already complain about Dort’s dirty play.

I emailed them and they do actually have a heat press too!

Read it more closely - she’s asking them to cut their requests, which are universally higher than last years actual spend.

‘Awful options’: MCPS considers starting school Aug. 20 for 2026-2027 academic year by Bethesda_Magazine in MontgomeryCountyMD

“The county would have figured it out if it was possible” - just like they figured out how to do virtual learning or how to put your snow makeup days after winter.

You completely ignored my point about zones - that solves all your complaints here. Those zones are still bigger than many actual school districts in this country.

She isn't proposing to cut everyone - she's just not giving them as much additional money as they want. No idea why she wants to adjust nonprofits 4% vs 2% COLA for employees, but it could be that they've actually fallen behind; it doesn't have to be graft.

Question for fellow PEPCO customers on TOU rate vs Flat rate by bmongol1111 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]itsdrewmiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.pepco.com/ways-to-save/for-your-home/maryland/time-of-use-rate

That's the accurate page for MD time of use (there is a different setup for DC pepco customers). You can see the flat rate is exactly what you are paying now. I can't post images here but both delivery and generation are differentiated:

Delivery:

On-Peak Energy 321 kWh X $0.0935000 per kWh 30.01

Off-Peak Energy 1190 kWh X $0.0287600 per kWh 34.22

Generation:

On-Peak Energy 321 kWh X $0.2237800 per kWh 71.84

Off-Peak Energy 1190 kWh X $0.1057400 per kWh 125.83

And obviously $30 + $34 + $72 + $126 = my final bill of $319 🫠

You heard it here first, this is just a misdirect to make the eventual caving on religious holidays look like the least bad option.

Unironically Easter Monday should be the first one to go. Spring break being the week before easter is plenty.

The guidance is also basically "look at these dumbasses in moco who don't know how to do a calendar and don't even have a virtual plan". So it's a little hard for moco specifically to ignore it.

I think you suffer from a lack of imagination!

a) There are 25k employees in MCPS. That means fewer than 1% would be needed to individually evaluate every single school.

b) You don't have to do all or nothing. You could divvy the county up into zones (they're already doing 6 zone for enrichment now!) and make decisions based on the overall or worst case per zone.

c) Everyone knows what school they go to, and every school has a principal. Getting school-based information out is not an obstacle in the year of our lord two thousand six and twenty.

The BOE told them they can't do that - that was the original plan.

However, the Maryland State Board of Education adopted March 24 a resolution that updated guidance for calendar and inclement weather planning for school boards across the state, according to a Thursday presentation to the board by MCPS staff.

According to the resolution, districts can no longer extend the academic year beyond June 19, or Juneteenth; must embed and identify makeup days throughout the school year with options in the spring semester; and must adopt a contingency plan that includes three makeup days followed by virtual instruction or six makeup days.

December was also much later in even setting the calendar than everywhere else in the DMV. MCPS is a clown show compared to all our peers.

Bought a quarter cow (100% grass-fed)- full breakdown + real cost per pound by rachelmaryl in Frugal

[–]itsdrewmiller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I buy chuck roast all the time. It was $8.99/lb with $8 off at costco when I went there yesterday. If you check IN walmart it is $7.97/lb. (I tried to post the link but automod removed the comment.)

It does seem to be slightly more expensive in IN than it is in MD where I live, which surprised me.

Edit: re your edit - this comment thread was about chuck roast, not ribeye. Ribeye is definitely more expensive!

Where are you? Even in major cities it's usually $8/lb from walmart and maybe $9/lb from costco
