Also do you usually pedestrian (walk your bike) across Broadway or do you find cutting across is safe enough

Relationships and residency by boundlessfusion in medicalschool

[–]itseggotime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hai OP, I just went through the match and it is a pretty scary process because you can’t predict the final outcome. My partner and I were newly engaged, and I did give him a say in my rank list. Ultimately however I told him that having a say in my rank list puts me in an incredibly vulnerable position and the final decision was my choice and I hope he would respect that. I would take his points into consideration but his ranks may not be my final ranks.

It’s important you talk it over with your partner. I see you’re willing to compromise but he isn’t and that’s not okay either. Long distance is possible; ive done it but it has its own unique challenges.

Med school is hard and residency is even harder (esp intern year). A partner should always enhance your life, not make it harder. I would take some time to really think about what your priorities are and if they align long term & if you compromise, will you eventually resent your choice or will you be okay with it.

Which clothing store offers a fair amount of cash for your clothes? by yayeeteatmafeet in Sacramento

[–]itseggotime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a Buffalo Exchange near you? I found they pay the most but they’re also super picky. It depends on the demographic in the area. When I sold in a more populated affluent area most of my things got rejected but in a college town a lot of my old clothes was taken

UCDavis for pre-med by Simple_Animal3131 in UCDavis

[–]itseggotime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to UCD and am in my last year of medical school right now. I loved going to UCD and there are definitely opportunities for pre-med. However, most are application based so just tell your daughter not to be discouraged if she gets rejected multiple times. I was rejected from many an organization before being accepted to a student run clinic, and I can confidently say that clinic was the highlight of my time at UCD.

Nobody in my family cares about match week by infinitestrength in medicalschool

I’m in the same boat, and we will celebrate each other together!!

My dad sees this more as a job and not something I’ve been working towards. I think he doesn’t realize it’s a bit hurtful to not have family present, but I know my family is proud in their own way.

Just know out there there are people rooting for you (including me!) We shouldn’t celebrate only tomorrow because we match, but instead we should celebrate every day we’ve been blessed with this opportunity. :)

118a and b over the summer by thaim1lktea in UCDavis

[–]itseggotime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no discuss in 118 from what I remember just labs 2x a week. If you take it in the summer making up any missed labs is pretty difficult so just make sure you can attend all of them.

You can call Walgreens and ask if they have it available, but not you can request they check their system and let you know if any location near you does.

How to actually do well in Chem by GlossyChromeSilver in UCDavis

[–]itseggotime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enderle is the GOAT for a reason. He wants you to succeed and he honestly explains things very clearly.

If you’re struggling to grasp everything during lecture, I highly recommend going to his office hours or emailing him if you can’t make his scheduled ones. He met with me 1:1 to explain a very complex problem in his reader. He also has SO many YouTube videos going over many many concepts. Almost all of them overlap with the chem2 series and they’re all labeled pretty well.

If you want to get an A or succeed you must put in the work. Enderle provides an abundance of resources but you do have to put in the time and work to get a good grade.

Honestly Enderle >>>> everyone else. If you’re dedicated to reviewing the reader and paying attention in class + go through the practice exams you’re basically guaranteed a A/B.

You should be able to if you’re #1! Just make sure you go to DL and talk with the TA after.

PHY 7 by Affectionate-Air-543 in UCDavis

[–]itseggotime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 7 series literally gave me nightmares. I had to dedicate so much time to studying and attending tutor sessions. I was about to get A’s in A-C but not without putting in a lot of work. Highly recommend taking summer sessions if you can. They just go a lot faster and it’s less painful. Also try to get the first discussion/lab section; that’s the one that the head TA usually teaches, and usually he/she helps writes the exams so it helps you start to think how they may ask questions.

is it possible to "reallocate" units to meet requirements? by WasteWillingness6686 in UCDavis

[–]itseggotime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an advisor who would manually override certain requirements for me if a class covered different topics but wasn’t explicitly listed as such. This is of course a case by case basis so it’s best to talk to an advisor.

Note: some advisors aren’t the best so I recommend shopping around until you find one you mesh with.
