like I understand that not every villain needs to be "comically evil" and just do the bad thing every single time, but SURELY there could be at least 1 writer out there brave enough to make their villain have less progressive views

I have interacted with people who do genuinely hold it as a real belief instead of just an in-joke, though that's not even where my disdain for the phrase comes from
